Competition: Win Flack - Series 1-2 Box Set on DVD

Flack - Series 1-2 Box Set is out on DVD on 8th June.

And to celebrate we have a great competition for you and 2 copies on DVD to give away.

Synopsis
JUGGLING WITH Saturday evening TV presenters harbouring dark secrets and an elderly environmental celebrity who may or may not have got a bit too hands on, as well as a romantic tryst between a high profile couple and a sporting superstar that resulted in a baby… It’s all in a day’s work for Robyn (Anna Paquin – True Blood, X-Men) and the Mills Paulson PR agency.

The queens of spin are back to help to fix those PR nightmares in W Channel’s darkly comic drama Flack which returns after its critically acclaimed first series gripped audiences last year. Flack Series 2 arrives on DVD thanks to Acorn Media International, alongside the Flack Series 1 and 2 DVD Box Set on 8th June 2020.

Following the success of Scorsese’s The Irishman, Hollywood star Anna Paquin returns to the small screen as Robyn, the high-flying publicity guru at Mills Paulson PR, who can make her clients' bad situations better with some expert spin, but when it comes to her own life things are never quite so straightforward.

Sophie Okonedo (Chimerica, Wanderlust) continues her reign as tyrannical boss Caroline, while hedonistic PR powerhouse Eve (Lydia Wilson – Requiem, Ripper Street) and naïve intern Melody (Rebecca Benson – Game of Thrones, The White Princess) are back for more crazy crisis management in the wild world of high stakes public relations.

And as well as wrestling with celebrities’ problems and issues, the staff at Mills Paulson have their own problems, there’s Robyn’s life changing situation, a face from the past returning and the threat of an ownership battle for the agency itself.

Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actor Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Peaky Blinders), joins the cast as Caroline’s ex Duncan, while guest stars include Jane Horrocks (Little Voice, Absolutely Fabulous) and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii Five-0).

Competition: Win Bulletproof - Series 2 on DVD

Bulletproof - Series 2 is out on DVD on 8th June.

And to celebrate we have a great competition for you and 3 copies on DVD to give away.

Synopsis
DIVE DEEP undercover with London’s finest, Noel Clarke and Ashley Walters, as they return to the crime-filled streets in the second series of Bulletproof. Mixing drama, action and comedy in a fresh take on the police buddy genre, Bulletproof Series 2 and the Series 1 and 2 Box Set arrive on DVD & digital 8 June and 15th June from Acorn Media International.

Acclaimed actor, writer and director Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Star Trek: Into the Darkness) and chart-topping rapper turned respected actor Ashley Walters (Top Boy, Hustle), lead the action as two undercover cops tasked with bringing down the East End's toughest criminals in this Sky original series co-created by the pair.

Adrenalin-fuelled and packed with laughs as well as high-octane action, as all buddy-cop aficionados know, the key to its success is the bromance and banter between Officer Ronnie Bishop (Clarke) and Senior Officer Aaron Pike (Walters). By-the-book, family man Pike and raised-on-the-streets Bishop may come from different backgrounds, but they work brilliantly together…even if things don’t always go to plan.

Picking up a year after the events of the explosive first series, series two finds Bishop burying himself in work and one-night-stands, while Pike tries to balance his job with his family. Soon the pair are drawn into a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with the Markides, a notorious and elusive crime family who exist in the shadowy world of narcotics, people-trafficking and money-laundering. As the lines between good and evil, friend and foe, become blurred, will going undercover push the boys to breaking point?

New additions to the team include a young officer with questionable intentions, and a new Deputy Director who takes a keen interest in our team…but will he help or hinder them? Facing love, loss, and ghosts of the past, Bishop and Pike must go further than they ever have before to save those they love, and each other. It’s a good thing they’re Bulletproof.

The Vast of Night - Available on Amazon Prime Video today

“You are entering a realm between clandestine and forgotten.” So begins the story of one fateful night in 1950s New Mexico. Photographed in soft, inky-dark tones and shot in nearly real time, THE VAST OF NIGHT follows young, winsome switchboard operator Fay (Sierra McCormick) and charismatic radio DJ Everett (Jake Horowitz) as they discover a strange audio frequency that could change their small town and the future forever.

Set at the dawn of the space-race and replete with uncanny and ironic period details, THE VAST OF NIGHT falls down the rabbit hole of Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone and stitches together a narrative scavenger hunt through dropped phone calls, AM radio signals, secret reels of tape forgotten in a library, switchboards, crossed patchlines and an anonymous phone call. The unexpected is explored both in the film’s twisty plot and its bold cinematic style, which includes stealthy long camera movements and even a spookily effective black screen.

McCormick and Horowitz are joined by a cast of Texas and Oklahoma locals, including scene-stealer Gail Cronauer as an elderly woman with a dark secret, and Bruce Davis, whose voice we hear during a spellbinding phone call scene. Director Andrew Patterson, an Oklahoma City native making his feature film debut, announces himself as a major new American voice in cinema and storytelling.

With allusions to classic television, old radio shows, and movie masters such as Michael Mann and David Fincher, THE VAST OF NIGHT is nonetheless a breathtaking original. The experience drops viewers into a time and a town hidden away — and with quiet mysteries which only present themselves to those curious and patient enough to hear them.

Sierra McCormick, Jake Horowitz, Gail Cronauer, Bruce Davis, Cheyenne Barton, Gregory Peyton

Reality Z - Official Trailer - Netflix Brasil

Netflix's first Brazilian zombie series, Reality Z got an official trailer this Wednesday. Set to premiere on June 10th, Reality Z is adapted and developed for a continuous series format by the award-winning Brazilian director, screenwriter and executive producer Cláudio Torres, based on the acclaimed British horror miniseries Dead Set, created by Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror). A tribute to fans of the genre, the visceral show combines British irony with Brazilian tropicalist anthropophagy, and has the city of Rio de Janeiro as the background for the story.

An ode to horror, humor and pop culture, Reality Z narrates in 10 episodes a zombie apocalypse that imprisons participants and producers of a reality show called Olympus. On one eviction night, the studio becomes a safe haven for those seeking salvation in a city where madness and horror come to reign.

In the video revealed today, it is possible to cross the walls that isolate the reality show participants from the exterior world and get to know the great self-sustaining fortress, now threatened by the zombies outside and by the vile human nature inside. Witness what other survivors are willing to do to take over the Greek-inspired palace. In addition to satire on reality shows, the series delves into what is the most profound aspect in the zombie genre: the human drama.

With striking Brazilian characters as in the fantastic cinema, who were incorporated into the reboot in an unprecedented way, the series has a great cast. The list includes Anna Hartmann (Nina), Luellem de Castro (Teresa), Guilherme Weber (Brandão), Emílio de Mello (Alberto Levi), Ravel Andrade (Léo), João Pedro Zappa (TK), Julia Ianina (Cristina), Pierri Baitelli (Robson), Jesus Luz (Lucas), special guest Sabrina Sato (Divina), special guest Carla Ribas (Ana), Gabriel Canela (Marcos), Natália Rosa (Veronica), Leandro Daniel (Augusto), Hanna Romanazzi (Jéssica), Arlinda Di Baio (Cleide), and Wallie Ruy (Madonna).

Reality Z is executive produced by Cláudio Torres and Renata Brandão. Cláudio also shares the series direction with Rodrigo Monte, and signs the script with João Costa. This is the first collaboration between Netflix and Conspiração, Brazilian independent producing company that has the highest number of International Emmy nominations in the market.

The filming of the first Icelandic Netflix series Katla has begun. The cast includes Guðrún Ýr Eyfjörð, Íris Tanja Flygenring, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Þorsteinn Bachmann, Sólveig Arnarsdóttir, Guðrún Gísladóttir, Baltasar Breki and Björn Thors from Iceland and Aliette Opheim and Valter Skarsgård from Sweden among others. The series is created by the award winning director Baltasar Kormákur (Trapped, Everest) and produced by RVK Studios.

One year after the outbreak of a violent eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla, the peace and tranquility in the small town of Vík has been dramatically disturbed with the eruption still active.  The ice near the volcano has been melting, the area has been evacuated and only a few remaining people manage to provide the necessary community service in the village, which is now only accessible by crossing the Markarfljót river.  The grand area has turned out to be somewhat apocalyptic and Vík is declared a danger zone.

Mysterious elements, that have been deeply frozen into the glacier from prehistoric times, start to emerge from the melting ice with consequences no one could ever have foreseen

– I‘m really excited about being a part of this ambitious project. My part as GRÍMA is certainly a challenge, but working with Baltasar you just know that it will turn out right. He‘s really great to work with as director.  While he gives his actors space to develop their characters and is always open to ideas and suggestions, he knows exactly how he wants things done and you can always be sure that he’ll catch you if you go off track and direct you right back on it, says Guðrún Ýr Eyfjörð.

Katla  is created by internationally recognized and acclaimed director Baltasar Kormákur.

– After extensive casting sessions, we put together an amazing ensemble cast, mixed with some of Iceland‘s finest and most experienced actors as well as brilliant young emerging talent. I‘m very confident with the choices we made and thoroughly enjoy working with all of them, says Baltasar Kormákur.

The cast also includes Haraldur Ari Stefánsson, Birgitta Birgisdóttir, Helga Braga Jónsdóttir, jörn Ingi Hilmarsson and Aldís Amah Hamilton along with the 9-year old Hlynur Atli Harðarson.

The team writing the story behind the eight part series is in addition to Baltasar Kormákur, co-creators Sigurjón Kjartansson, Davíð Már Stefánsson and  Lilja Sigurðardóttir and produced by RVK Studios.  Katla will launch on Netflix worldwide. Launch date is still to be announced.

Live Premier League football on BBC TV for the first time ever

For the first time since the Premier League’s inception in 1992, the BBC has confirmed that it will be broadcasting free to air live games upon the league’s return next month.

Four live games in total will air on the BBC alongside a bumper crop of Match Of The Day highlight programmes.

Director of BBC Sport, Barbara Slater, says:
“This opportunity creates an historic moment for the BBC and our audiences. At a time when sports fans across the country are in need of lift, this is very welcome news. We are delighted and excited to have the chance to show live Premier League games on the BBC. This will offer audiences, who haven't had the opportunity in the past, live, free to air access to the best football league in the world, as the BBC continues to keep the country entertained during these unprecedented times.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, football fans last taste of Premier League action was March 9. The BBC will be working closely with the Premier League to ensure all appropriate safety measures are adhered to in the broadcasting of these games.

Before the Premier League era, the last time a live, top-flight league football match was broadcast during the 1987-88 season; not forgetting Match Of The Day’s highlights and analysis which has been a staple of football culture since 1964. These Premier League games sit alongside the BBC’s existing live FA Cup offering, which we also hope to welcome back to screens soon.

Federico Zampaglione reveals second lockdown horror short BIANCA: PHASE 2.

Italian musician and film director Federico Zampaglione has followed up on his well-received short movie BIANCA, with an even more horrific study of Italy under lockdown - BIANCA: PHASE 2. Again shot on his iPad in three days and starring his ten year old daughter alongside his current partner, actress Giglia Marra, Zampagione, who created, edited and produced the film single-handedly, has cast his former wife, actress Claudia Gerini in a cameo role and, obeying lockdown rules, involved only family members in the location roles – Marco and Giula Chermaz, his cousin and nephew respectively

Synopsis:
Phase 2 of the Italian lockdown has begun and Bianca (Linda Zampagilone) and her mother (Giglia Marra) decide to go to the reopened local park to enjoy their new found freedom in the sun. But an evil presence is stalking them and when Bianca is kidnapped, her mother enters a nightmare world trying to find and save her daughter from a terrible danger.

Federico said today:
“This is the second episode of a planned trilogy, and the action has become more horror-oriented. The biggest challenge was making a beautiful Roman park look like a disturbing and creepy place. I had to make it look completely empty and desolate, so it was all about waiting for silence and using all the camera angles to avoid including other people in the frames.

One of the most interesting aspects to me, being a musician, was not using music that much.  Instead I worked a lot on building up an increasingly unnerving atmosphere using mostly natural sounds, like birds, dog barking, weird animal noises) rather than the classic score”.

BBC One commissions two new entertainment shows from Jack Whitehall

Jack Whitehall is bringing two new entertainment shows to BBC One in the next few months.
Jack Whitehall’s Father’s Day will be a celebration of the special day in our current unusual circumstances. Then, with all sport cancelled under lockdown, he will treat us to a six-part series exploring some of the country’s best sports stories in Jack Whitehall’s Sporting Nation.

BBC One to celebrate Father’s Day with Jack Whitehall
Father’s Day is traditionally the time we celebrate our fathers, grandfathers and father figures by coming together to spend time with one another, but that’s going to be tricky for a lot of people during lockdown.

Enter Jack Whitehall who knows the importance of maintaining a good father-son relationship, no matter how challenging the father is. He’s a man who’s been through a lot with his father, Michael, they’ve travelled the world together and he like the rest of us is going to miss being with his dad on Father’s Day.

In Jack Whitehall’s Father’s Day, Jack will visit Michael the lockdown way by setting up on the pavement outside Michael’s front door to spend some quality time together. They’ll reminisce over old family photos, awkward home video footage and tell some classic Whitehall tales.

Jack and Michael will also be catching up with a number of famous faces, taking part in a special Father's Day edition of MasterChef and surprising key workers who can’t be with their loved ones this year.

Let’s not allow lockdown and coronavirus to ruin Father’s Day this year; join Jack and Michael in making it a truly memorable one.

Jack Whitehall’s Sporting Nation
Jack Whitehall is bringing a comedic celebration of a kingdom united by sport to BBC One.

2020 has been a strange year for sport with every professional league suspended and an entire summer of iconic events wiped out. The whole nation is itching for some sporting action - step forward Jack Whitehall, with the entirety of sports history at his fingertips.

Jack Whitehall’s Sporting Nation is BBC One’s new comedy retrospective in which Jack Whitehall, the ultimate armchair fan, tells the story of the United Kingdom through its greatest sporting moments. Looking back on decades of glorious action, in this nostalgia-filled and light-hearted take on our heritage, Jack invites us to relive our most incredible sporting achievements together while exploring what our love of sport says about us as a nation.

In collaboration with some of the UK’s most exciting sports writers, Jack will take us on a journey through six themes that unite us; from loving the underdog to hating the Australians. The show will bring together rich cultural nostalgia, social commentary and top-class athleticism to create a feel-good dive into our sporting past that will remind us just how much we love it, and how we can’t wait for it to return.

Jack says: “The British public has lost over a hundred hours of sport this summer with the Olympics, Euro 2020 and Wimbledon being wiped off the schedule. So we thought what do people need in this barren summer and we came up with this. I’ve worked with some of the country’s most talented sports journalists to create six compendiums of British sport. From Super Saturday to super overs this will be pure unadulterated nostalgia!”

In The Long Run will make a welcome return to Sky One and streaming service NOW TV for a 3rd series, transporting us back to 1980s East London – the decade of shell-suits and turtlenecks. All episodes of the third instalment will be available to watch from 22 July.

Creator and executive producer Idris Elba is back on our screens as Walter Easmon, alongside wife Agnes (Madeline Appiah), younger brother Valentine (Jimmy Akingbola) and making her debut this series, Walter’s mum (Ellen Thomas). Bill Bailey returns as Bagpipes with wife Kirsty (Kellie Shirley), work colleague Rajesh (Neil D’Souza) and Kobna (Sammy Kamara) back on the decks.

Idris Elba said: “Nothing beats a funny story from someone who was there! I can’t wait for viewers to see series three.”

The third series of this semi-autobiographical Sky One comedy, loosely based on Idris’ own childhood, sees the welcome arrival of Walter’s mum from Sierra Leone with Walter desperate to impress. Bagpipes has a near death experience that makes him question the meaning of life. Valentine finally finds love and Kirsty sets up her own catering business all while Agnes gets suspicious as some developers start taking an interest in the Eastbridge Estate, threatening the very existence of the community.

Series 1, 2 and the Christmas Special of In The Long Run are available now to watch on Sky and NOW TV.

Blue Peter teams up with McLaren to launch ‘Supercar of the Future’ Competition

A lucky Blue Peter viewer has the chance to win a ride in a McLaren supercar driven by Top Gear’s famous racing driver, The Stig.

Blue Peter is teaming up with McLaren, one of the leading car creators in the world, to launch a unique competition asking young viewers to design their ‘Supercar of the Future’.

Once restrictions are lifted by the UK government, the winner will have the opportunity to meet with McLaren’s leading designers and engineers and see their winning design brought to life as a 3D scale model, to be unveiled on Blue Peter. They will also win an incredible ride in a McLaren supercar with one of the most famous drivers in the world, The Stig from Top Gear.

The prize also includes a VIP tour of the world-famous McLaren Technology Centre and McLaren Production Centre to see how real supercars are made. The winner will also be awarded the coveted orange Blue Peter competition badge.

In Thursday’s Blue Peter (5.30pm, Thursday 21 May, CBBC and BBC iPlayer), presenter Richie Driss goes behind the scenes at McLaren to find out how you get started in supercar design. Filmed before lockdown, Richie meets Rob Melville, McLaren Automotive’s Design Director, who explains that a supercar should look fantastic, have sensational performance and push the boundaries of what already exists.

Also in the film, Ella Podmore, McLaren’s materials engineer, talks about the importance of choosing materials which can make a car lighter and faster.

Lighter vehicles can give passengers better performance and are also more energy efficient potentially leading to less fuel being used. Entrants to the competition are therefore asked to consider how their car is powered, the impact on the environment and to describe what materials it is made from. They are also asked to choose one outstanding feature of their design and explain why they are proud of it.

Blue Peter Editor, Ellen Evans, says: “This is such an exciting Blue Peter competition with an amazing prize to see behind closed doors at McLaren and experience the thrills and fun of Top Gear too. The judges are going to be looking for designs that are full of imagination, with a great story and we want to see that they have given some thought to the science behind the design too. I can’t wait to see what the amazing, creative Blue Peter kids come up with!”

In The Footsteps of Killers with Emilia Fox and Professor David Wilson

Channel 4 will be returning to the scene of the crime with Emilia Fox and Professor David Wilson in a new series from Alaska TV that looks at several unsolved murders.

The series will be shot like a drama, with each episode seeing Silent Witness star Fox and criminologist Wilson (Interview With A Murderer) reopen a cold case.

In The Footsteps of Killers will use the latest in forensic science and criminological research to shed new light on these troubling cases, looking for new leads the original investigation may have missed. Travelling to the locations of the crime, Emilia and David will interview the witnesses, suspects and friends and family of the victims, and attempt to build a picture of what exactly happened.

The series is currently in pre-production remotely and filming is planned to start in the Summer. Production will be adhering to the most up to date Government guidelines on social distancing, personal safety and filming restrictions.

Emilia Fox Said: “I am delighted that Alaska and Channel 4 have given David and I the chance to explore and shed light on these fascinating unsolved cases. We will use this platform to raise awareness and hopefully bring new evidence to these true crime cases which have gone under the radar.”

Professor David Wilson said: “I am delighted to be working again with Emilia and now back on Channel 4 where in 2017 I presented the award-winning Interview with a Murderer. It’s like coming home. This series is going to take true crime in a different direction by using new criminological techniques to shine a light on unsolved cases which have for too long remained in the dark.  Our goal in every episode is to get justice for the victims and I sincerely believe that is possible. This true crime is crime fact that looks like crime fiction, but we never forget that these are genuine cases that we are discussing and that real people died.”

Madagasikara : The Real Madagascar - Poster and Trailer

In 2009, fed up with increased poverty and widespread corruption, Madagascar's citizens took to the streets in protest. After the president was forced to resign, the international community terminated most foreign assistance to this chronically impoverished island nation. Over 60% of the country's revenues were immediately wiped out, resulting in the dramatic curtailment of education, health care, sanitation and access to food.

MADAGASIKARA is the story of three resilient women (Lin, Tina and Deborah) fighting for the survival of their families and the education of their children against the overwhelming forces of domestic political instability, international political hypocrisy and the crushing poverty caused by both.

Directed and Produced by former attorney turned documentarian Cam Cowan, MADAGASIKARA was inspired by University of Virginia Law School students who reported on human rights issues in Madagascar. After a year of research and planning, Cam made his first trip to Madagascar in June 2014. After four years of filming and post-production, the documentary, which had a successful film festival run accumulating over 45 accolades from festivals around the world, will make its debut on Amazon Prime and Docurama on Friday, June 26th followed by a wider digital release on iTunes, Google Play, Films for Action and many more.

Interview with Jeff Oliver By David Kempf

When did you first become interested in writing?

I started really writing when I was just 11 years old. It's was like a bomb went off within my soul. The ideas have flooded my mind ever since then. Think of it like a vortex of letters and words jumbling together 24 hours a day seven days a week. A blessing or a curse? Each day is different for me So the answer is both. I write so much my hands cramp up. The ideas keep coming even if I want to take a break, it's like something is telling me to keep going even if I don't feel like writing...it always seems like I have to.

How did you get involved in fantasy/horror?

I write real-life truths, horror is definitely one of them. I guess I've always written horror and the unimaginable. You know? Places most people are scared to go. Deep down in my mind lies something I can’t explain, voices and visions..childhood traumas and premonitions it’s like my soul will never be forgiven.

Tell us about your publisher.

I was published with Creative Talents Unleashed for my first book titled “Strange Sounds” which is my debut collection of poetry. It rages from love to insanity, Heaven and Hell and everything in between. The book is available on Amazon and is now Self published by me because the publisher has released all contracts to each author. I now have a new publisher “Cosby Media Productions” out of Atlanta Georgia which I have signed a 10 year contract with many great things ahead including another Poetry book this fall. Shortly before signing with Cosby Media, I self-published my debut horror novel “Poetic Fiction: Journals Of Silent Screams” it is a rhyming poetic horror story that talks about abuse and revenge. It is unlike anything out there.

How would you classify the genre you write?

From the soul, from the deepest corners of my mind. I don't label myself in any specific genre, because I never know what to expect when I start to write. One moment it's about my beautiful wife, the next it's the flames of Hell. I'm an unpredictable writer. Is there a category for that?

Why do you think horror and fantasy books remain so popular?

People adore the unknown and unexplainable, a quick rush. Fear is a natural emotion, we all have it in us. If it's triggered just right it opens doors we've never experienced before. Kind of like an escape from the reality of the world around us. Something different, something unreal. We all have that curiosity of the unknown, and reading a good way out of an often boring reality keeps interest in this style.

What inspires your stories?

Could be a word, could be a photo. My stories vary from love to pain. Hate and rage, insanity in its purest form. My stories are unique and people flock to my madness. I write what my soul is feeling at that particular moment.

What do you think the difference between American horror and British horror is?

Horror is determined by what kind of experience you have. I'm not sure this question could ever be answered correctly. It depends on the mindset of the writer, where they have been and where they are going with whatever story they are writing at the moment. In an open mind a horror story can be written in the most horrific fashion. Most of my horror stories are written from experience not fiction. Horror is sacrifice, and it depends on the writer to bring that to life. So I really don't see a difference between the two. I do see the same visions brought to life in their own unique ways though. In the end, it depends on the psyche of each individual writer to really get the hair standing up.

So I think the difference between the two is the mindset and the way they think of ways to make us scream.

What are your favorite horror books?

Stephen Kings IT, The Stand, Pet Sematary, The Exorcist, The Silence Of The Lambs, and The Hunger.

What are some of your favorite horror movies?

The Shining, Doctor Sleep, IT, Saw, The Exorcist, 47 meters Down.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as an author?

I self-published my unique rhyming horror story ”Poetic Fiction: Journals Of Silent Screams, then shortly after signed with Cosby Media Productions.

Do you have any advice for new writers?

Just be yourself, write for you first. You will always have people that do not appreciate your work and dedication. Keep shining, keep grinding. Never give up on your dreams.

What is your opinion of the new self-publishing trend?

I've just recently self-published, so far it is okay. Sales are coming in and I've been self-promoting and am having some success. The shipping is slow because of what is going on in the world. I am new to it just released in March so I still have to see how it goes.

What are your current projects?

I have a project with Cosby Media that will be released this fall, no spoilers just yet.

Please in your own words, write a paragraph about yourself & your work.

Jeff Oliver was born in Baltimore Maryland on April 6th, 1982. Starting his writing career early at just 11 years old, his mind has always collected thoughts and transferred them to paper. There are thoughts about troubled childhood, thoughts of love and imagination never elude his pen. A poet by passion and a father of seven beautiful children his dedication to his craft is second to none. He resides in New York with the love of his life, Jennie. She is his muse. Madness lives in his mind sparking unimaginable works of art that will never be fully understood or explained. His words are real and provoke insanity through an imaginary portal of nightmares and dreams. A writer of intense emotions. Jeff has written a collection of poetry that was published last year by Creative Talents Unleashed titled Strange Sounds. His first fully published collection of poetry, full of monsters and beasts, love songs and total insanity.

As he evolves from poetry, he has now completed his very first unique hard-hitting novel. He is ready to take on this literary world with every emotion that resides in his soul. ”Madness illustrates what insanity demonstrates, while chaos illuminates what Hell creates”. An example of Jeff’s many styles of writing. Jeff wants to reach audiences of the broken and deranged, the misfits and the caged. He would like to reach the people that society seems to leave in waste. ”The mistakes”, the strange and the hated. The ones that people tend to forget. Jeff will never fit in just like the audience he seeks, he just wants the world to know that it’s okay to bleed.

Recently Signed with Cosby Media Productions with a 10 year contract.

Interview with Jorgy Cruz - Director of Funny Pains

Jorgy Cruz’s “Funny Pains” follows stand-up comedian Wendi Starling, whose career, working process and life are closely examined in the film, as she navigates one of the entertainment’s toughest, most competitive professions - all during the height of the #MeToo movement, feminism, and the infiltration of stand-up comedy by the politically correct. Above all else, the film delves into serious issues of sexual assault and mental health, with Starling revealing her not-so-private personal traumas.

Tell us when and how you came upon the idea for the film, sir?
I kinda didn't, it just happened. I went to a bar my wife used to work at in midtown Manhattan and she told me about a comedy show they were having on a Saturday night and she was in charge of the event. I did not want to go, but she convinced me to attend. I was sitting at the bar chatting with my wife while comics did their thing and then all of the sudden this woman shows up looking like she hasn't slept in a while, she says hi and orders a glass of water. She seemed exhausted, and I asked her "are you ok?", to what she replied, "I went hard yesterday, I'm dying". Right there and then a comic named Manny Rondon introduces Wendi Starling to the stage, she put down the water and said "I'll be right back", Wendi hit the stage and she was full of energy, big smile and totally killed with a material so raw, so unique and personal that I was completely hypnotized and convinced I was in the presence of a special artist. Once her set was done she went downstairs to smoke a cigarette and out of the blue, I asked her if I could meet with her with a camera and shoot for a day. That day turned into years.

Were any of the names attached to the project before filming?
No. After we shot I started editing and I remember talking to Krystyna Hutchinson, she starts in the film since she's a close friend to Wendi and they also have a monthly show in NYC called Glamourpuss, and she suggested we contact some comics so they could discuss what Wendi goes through in the film since the comic's journey is a tale of struggle and hardship before they "make it". I was not sure in the beginning but this really took the story to the next level, I'm a fanatic of stand-up comedy and I cannot express how much I love and respect this cast, it was a dream come true to meet them and have them in the doc.

How much of the documentary is scripted or outlined?
Nada. We shot 2 short re-enactments and that's it. I did not want to stage anything and even if I wanted to that would have been impossible, Wendi was really clear about keeping everything real at all times.

If you had to compare it to another film, what might it be?
I have really tried to compare it to another film but have yet to find one that fits. When I was shooting, I intentionally did not watch a single movie, series, or documentary. That was not easy, but I did not want this movie to remind you of anything, I really wanted to test myself I see what came out of me as a director.

It looks superb. Do you expect it’ll appeal to a broad range of people?

I hope so. There is a lot here to digest, many layers of humanity. It's not a comedy doc per se, and more of a human experience documentary that happens to occur in the comedy world.

How much do you rely on good reviews as a filmmaker? I imagine you’d have to have a thick skin?
I don't read them. Once a movie is done that's it, it's not yours anymore, it belongs to every person that watches it. I know the film that I have here and I hope it connects with many people.

FUNNY PAINS is released Monday on digital.

Interview with Frederick Keeve - The director of The Accompanist

Filmmaker Frederick Keeve’s latest film might be- like so many others – set within the world of dance but, as the director of The Accompanist explains, he wanted to “do something different to try and show ballet as an art form more honestly with realistic ballet classes and auditions” for this pic.

What do you think makes a good dance film, Frederick?

That’s an interesting question. One of the reasons I set out to make The Accompanist and also the upcoming sequel The Accompanist Awakening was to show ballet in a more realistic light and also bring back the beauty, grace and athleticism of ballet dancers to mainstream audiences. I’ve enjoyed other dance films over the years like The Turning Point, Center Stage, and even Black Swan, and of course a classic like The Red Shoes, but I wanted to do something different and try to show ballet as an art form more honestly with realistic ballet classes and auditions.

Can you remember the first one you saw?

The Turning Point.

And which ones do you think are the best?

I think all the films mentioned above have a piece of the puzzle and it really depends on what the filmmaker is trying to say and how dance is used in the movie—thematically, as a backdrop, essential to the rising action or conflict in the movie. In The Turning Point, Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft’s characters as friends took completely different paths in life and then come back together in middle age with unresolved conflicts in their lives and friendship. In Center Stage, we follow the lives of young, ambitious dancers as they enroll in American Dance Academy and jockey with each other to be the best and succeed in the dance world with all its stresses and drama.

Black Swan is a character study of the disintegration of the personality of Natalie Portman’s character as she descends into madness portraying the “black swan” in Swan Lake. In The Red Shoes, a young ballet dancer is torn between the man she loves and her pursuit to become a prima ballerina.

So each movie deals with the art of ballet and the dramatic conflict set up in each film differently. Whether it’s choosing between love or career, or descent into madness, or unrelenting ambition, or friendship and regrets of path chosen in life, I think that if a film has good production values, a well-constructed screenplay, and good direction and acting, all of these dance movies mentioned have their own artistic life and are valid. My favourite? it would be hard to choose to be honest. I like each for different elements and different performance aspects.

Are you, yourself, interested in other styles of dance outside of ballet?

Ballet is my favourite by far. I’ve always loved ballet, and in particular, the melding of classical music and the grace, artistry and athleticism and purity of style in ballet. It is truly a magnificent art form involving classical style, training, beauty, grace, gorgeous music, costumes, staging and wonderful storylines of the classic ballets. Magnificent!

Where did this interest in ballet come from?

I always liked The Turning Point in terms of melding great actors’ performances like Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft with beautiful dancing from American Ballet Theatre dancers, and lots of drama. But my original interest I’m sure would have been from studying classical music as a pianist from five years old, up through high school, and then as a student at UCLA, obtaining an undergraduate degree in music composition. I played piano for ballet companies, studios and classes since I was in graduate school at Oklahoma City University when I was quite young and played for Ballet Oklahoma master classes and professional classes. My interest in ballet continued later when my daughters took ballet classes at the Westside Academy of Dance, also known as Westside Ballet of Santa Monica for ten years, and currently I play piano today at this wonderful dance studio founded by Yvonne Mounsey and Rosemary Valaire over fifty years ago and is such an artistic force in the lives of not only Santa Monica residents where it is based, but also in the artistic lives and interests of Angelenos, and where I got the idea for the movie The Accompanist.

And is “The Accompanist” based on a personal experience?

Partially yes, but of course intermixed with a lot of imagination and carefully constructed dramatic structure and fictional characters, because, for example, I don’t really send people back in time “to be healed where they need to be healed the most,” with my piano music, but people, whether with dancers in the studio or music for my films, seem to enjoy my music and my musical scores. But I have been married for over twenty years (now divorced) and have four wonderful children of whom I am extremely proud of and feel blessed to have them in my life. So certainly in terms of family life, raising children, the complexities of one’s own sexuality, having to navigate middle age, and those types of themes and issues are part and parcel of my own life, and of course I bring this to my character of Jason Holden and use some of this in the storyline of The Accompanist. I only wish I could do magic like my character in the movie!

How would you describe the tone?

The tone of the movie The Accompanist is definitely dramatic and a bit mystical--akin to raw emotions and healing the pain of loss, tragedy, ambition, unhealthy relationships, and finding true love.

It’s hard to think of a film quite like it! Can you think of the closest comparison piece?

My pitch for this movie is: Black Swan (ballet classes and auditions) meets The Green Mile (the use of magic and invoking magical and esoteric powers and how these experiences inform the major characters) meets Call Me By Your Name (gay love between an older man and a younger man) meets The Sixth Sense (a big mystery that is only revealed at the end of the movie).

I would like to think we are finding a singular and hopefully prominent niche in the marketplace as the film opens to English-speaking audiences in the US on June 2nd, and across English-speaking countries across the world (from Canada, UK, Australia, Bahamas, etc.), because there is no other film like this that offers something beautiful and intriguing and dramatic to audiences hungry for beauty, ballet, art, healing family drama, fantasy, magic, gay love—a combination of emotional rawness, healing, beautiful dance and classical music, all wrapped up in a dramatic storyline.
