BBC Two series School to air later this year
School (w/t) is a new six-part series from Label1, the makers of acclaimed BBC Two series Hospital, who have been granted unique access to a Multi-Academy Trust of four secondary schools in South Gloucestershire, at a time of significant public and political scrutiny of the education system.
Schools must make increasingly tough decisions, and the choices made - and their consequences - could have an impact on a whole generation of children.
The Multi-Academy Trust featured in the series is responsible for educating 5,000 students, and the problems it faces are typical of those faced by schools up and down the county.
School (w/t) will take viewers to the heart of the tough issues that headteachers are facing, from increased class sizes and fewer support staff, to a shorter school day and a more restricted curriculum. And it will show the intricate workings of the system as teachers try to cater for the differing needs of a huge number of pupils, in a world where parents’ expectations are rising, exams are getting tougher and no two children are alike.
School (6x60') is made by Label1, and Executive Produced by Simon Dickson and Lorraine Charker-Phillips. It was commissioned by Patrick Holland, Channel Controller BBC Two and Clare Sillery, Head of Commissioning, Documentaries.
