The Hairy Bikers Go North

After years of riding abroad, The Hairy Bikers, Si King and Dave Myers, are back home in the North of England on their most personal journey yet.

In this 8 x 60' series for BBC Two they will travel from the west coast to the east, discovering the northern producers who are revolutionising the British food scene.

Each week they'll base themselves in one stunning location and explore the changing area through restaurants, recipes, producers and inventive new food entrepreneurs.

This is a food adventure that explains where the bikers came from, taking them to the regions they grew up in and have shaped them. But it isn't all familiar territory. Through the Peaks and Dales they uncover inventive new production methods, allowing the Bikers to create some incredible new recipes that showcase the allure of the mighty North.

They begin their journey In Lancashire, the red rose county, and travel through Cumbria, Yorkshire, The Peak district in Derbyshire, Northumberland and Newcastle. Along the way they take in some of the best gastro pubs in the land, meet award-winning local producers and an incredible range of young food entrepreneurs who are revolutionizing their local food scenes. They discover how tradition and the modern world are influencing one another in unique and exciting ways.

Si King says: ''Without doubt our most personal emotional and enlightening journey we've undertaken. Go North was a trip around the wonderful northern landscapes that shaped our identities, palates, culture and friendship. We met some great folk dedicated to their areas and to the continued success of their beloved communities. We flipping loved every turn of that motorcycle wheel."

Dave Myers says: "It's been nearly a decade since we went on the road in Britain and it's true you quite often miss what's on your own doorstep. We had already decided to film in the UK before Covid was an issue and stopped foreign travel, so we filmed here through choice not circumstance.

"The series is a love letter to the north, and a celebration of the food and the people that produce it. Viewers will get to see the two of us in our temporary homes in an intimate, honest reflection of two life-long friends cooking laughing and living together. We found amazing cooks, chefs and producers who have chosen to make the north their home. The landscape and roads are as varied as the people themselves. Please join us for a joyous romp through some of the finest food in the world and the world that is ours, The Hairy Bikers."

First look at Gomorrah's fifth and final season

Sky today revealed the first look images and behind-the-scenes video of the fifth and final season of Gomorrah, the Sky Original blockbuster series produced by ITV Studios' Cattleya in collaboration with Beta Film, based on an idea by Roberto Saviano. The award-winning series set a new standard for Italian TV series when it debuted in 2014 and has gone on to receive widespread acclaim from both viewers and critics alike. To date the series has been shown in over 190 territories around the world.

The highly anticipated new episodes of the most popular Italian series in the world - which The New York Times recently rated #5 of the top 30 international shows of the past decade - are written by the head writers Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, who are also the authors of the series bible with Roberto Saviano. Gianluca Leoncini and Valerio Cilio round out the writers' room.

Marco D'Amore and Claudio Cupellini, who have been at the helm since season 1, are going to direct five episodes each as well as serving as the artistic supervisors of the series. D'Amore has previously directed two episodes of Gomorrah 4 and the box office hit The Immortal, produced by Cattleya and Vision Distribution, intended as a bridge between Season 4 and 5.

Filming of the fifth season of the series commenced in Riga and is now taking place in Naples, with the final day of shooting scheduled for May. The series is set to air on Sky and NOW TV.

The first-look images and the backstage video show the protagonists of Sky's iconic series back on set: Salvatore Esposito, playing Genny Savastano who is forced into hiding in a bunker at the end of the fourth season, Arturo Muselli as Enzo Sangue Blu and Ivana Lotito as Azzurra Avitabile, Genny's wife. Returning both in front and behind the camera Marco D'Amore, stars again in the role of Ciro Di Marzio, left for dead at the end of the third season and - as revealed in the finale of the movie The Immortal - sensationally back on the scene, alive, in Latvia.

Synopsis
The clash between the Levante's and Patrizia left Naples in a pile of bricks forcing Genny to give up his dream of normality and to come back in action. But the police hot on Genny's heels forced him into a bunker alone without Azzurra and Pietrino. His only ally is now 'O Maestrale, the mysterious crime boss of Naples' eastern district Ponticelli . War is imminent and the enemies are fierce. But Genny is about to make a sensational discovery: Ciro Di Marzio is alive, in Latvia. And for Genny nothing will ever be the same.

Interview with Candis Nergaard - Star of The Heiress

Ahead of the UK Digital release of THE HEIRESS on March 15, 2021, actress Candis Nergaard talks about the harrowing research for her lead role, causing a stir on Newsnight, her Romany roots and coping with lockdown.

You star in a new British supernatural horror film, THE HEIRESS. Tell us how you got the part and what is was about the script that appealed to you.

I was contacted early on the process by the director Chris Bell who’d had me in mind as an option for Claire. I read an early draft of the script and absolutely loved the part, it’s rare for me to be scared by horror but the script alone conjured such vivid imagery that I was haunted by it, I knew it would work. When The Heiress was ready to go, I was offered the role of Claire, I couldn’t wait to get my teeth into it. I’ve played the lead role in TV, Radio and Theatre but this was my first for feature film.

Candis Nergaard as Clare in THE HEIRESS

What did you find most demanding about playing Clare?

It was the research I did for the role, it was harrowing. Claire is epileptic. That element, was the single most important thing to me to try to get right about her, especially the ‘grand mal seizure, and so I researched a lot. The director Chris’s dad is severely epileptic, and so Chris was able to guide me through. There are videos available made by people with epilepsy, who wish to bring more awareness to the public about how the fits can affect them. I would gear up to watch one of the videos and then have to put a lot of distance between watching it, as it affected me so much.

You’re known to genre fans for playing Anya in WHITE CHAMBER (https://amzn.to/37L5fxp) which premiered at FrightFest. Does the horror genre appeal you to?

I love the horror genre, it’s just so fun from an acting point of view. White Chamber was a dream in that regard, and so was working with amazing cult scream queen legend Shauna Macdonald. Beforehand, I’d never really given much thought to acting in horror films, I’d done a lot of kitchen sink realism, and my idols were directors like Ken Loach, Andrea Arnold and Gary Oldman. The unique thing about The Heiress is that it seems to fuse a very realistic Loach-esq landscape with some really artful proper scares.

Candis Nergaard in WHITE CHAMBER

Horror expanded my mind with potential possibilities; I love to escape into the shadowlands exploring the supernatural or a parallel universe.

You’ve said you were introduced to horror films at a small child by your dad. What was the first film you remember watching?

I think it was Alien..... it was so long ago. I remember sitting on my dad’s lap, and vague memories of eating tinned ravioli... probably not ideal food considering...

Although you don’t have a family background in the arts, you decided to do an acting course at The Miskin Theatre College, where you were taught by actors such as Neil Maskell and Dominic Power.  That must have been a great experience…

It changed the trajectory of my life. I feel incredibly lucky to have being taught by two exceptionally talented actors. Neil and Dom were very passionate about teaching, and because they had such conviction we really listened. It helped me develop an iron discipline for the craft.

It was super intense method acting training though. It was all a bit of a shock at age 16 and coming from my background. I went from being naughty in class to paying attention, reading the news, listening to radio drama. It expanded my world view.

You first came to prominence playing opposite Tom Hardy in the gritty drama STUART, A LIFE BACKWARDS. Your role involved controversial scenes of nudity and violence, which ended being discussed on Newsnight. Was it a difficult choice to accept the role?

Well, the script was incredible and based on a true story, so I was so pleased to audition. When I was offered the role, it dawned on me shortly afterwards that I’d have to be naked. I was so body conscious that I’d never even wear a bikini at the time.... However, I’d been working with a great acting coach, Giles Foremen, and the integrity of the work had become way more important than my fears, so I went for it. Tom was also lovely, and allayed my fears a bit by telling me about his nude scenes. I won’t forget Germaine Greer’s face on Newsnight.

Candis Nergaard faces her demons in THE HEIRESS

You starred in the BBC radio drama series ATCHIN TAN and went on to write several episodes of the series. What was it about the show that appealed to you and Is writing something you want to continue doing?

It was great to have authentic Gypsy voices and the Romany language on BBC radio. A lot of the Travellers had never acted before so it was exciting. I remember, one day we got stopped on location by police... We were recording in a caravan in a remote field in Cambridgeshire, and a squad car turned up, so we got our BBC passes out and showed them to the guy. He said “Oh that’s fine then, I thought you were Gypsies!” We laughed our asses off afterwards.

I’m writing a lot at the moment. I wrote and performed a one woman play for the Gorki Theatre in Berlin a couple of years ago, I’ve just finished writing my first feature film, and I’m co-writing another film with an award winning Irish director called Keith Farrell. It keeps my mind busy between acting jobs, and in lockdown!

You’ve also worked on PEAKY BLINDERS as their Romani language and cultural advisor since series 3. That must be an interesting role. Tell us more!

Tommy Shelby has got to be one of the coolest characters ever, constantly outwitting everyone. So, translating and recording lines in the Romany language for Cillian Murphy was so much fun. It’s amazing to hear him nail it. Script security is super tight so I’m normally dealing with isolated lines or sometimes scenes that are selected.

How have you coped with lockdown?

It’s been a mixed bag. I’m well aware of what I’m grateful for and it brings everything into focus. Being estranged from my family is really hard, especially in times of grief and bereavement, and continues to be so. I like a lot of alone time, pre-covid I’d normally flit between being really sociable and then really quiet, so lockdown has given me a lot of time to regroup.

I also badly miss the gym and my Krav Maga training, it keeps my mind sane especially under stress, but I’ve created a routine which helps. I keep up my strength training five times a week, walks in nature, cold water immersion, reading/ films, and meditation.

Finally, what’s next for you?

I have just finished filming a female led grit flick with a unique take on the criminal underworld called Gone to Ground, so I’m really looking forward to seeing that. I’m also hoping to get my own film made, and continue with the other writing projects that I’ve got on the go.

Acting-wise, I’m slightly superstitious about talking about things that haven’t happened yet. One thing that the pandemic has done is take the pressure off myself to keep achieving, if I feel strong and healthy, I’m onto a winner.

THE HEIRESS will be available to download from all major platforms including iTunes, Amazon & SKY Box Office, from Monday 15th March, 2021.

As Robert and Jack painstakingly restore the villa to its previous glory, father and son also start to mend their relationship. The future may now look quite different and surprise them both.

Me You Madness - Trailer - Starring Ed Westwick and Louise Linton in killer rom-com

Louise Linton's comedy thriller, Me You Madness, starring Gossip Girl heart throb Ed Westwick, will be released on Digital Download in the UK & Ireland on 19th April by ILY Films.

Me You Madness is Linton's first experience of writing and directing. She also stars, playing Catherine Black; a ruthlessly ambitious, intelligent and successful business woman who happens to also be gorgeous. She lives a life of luxury: architectural dream house in Malibu, exclusive designer fashions, fast cars and exquisite jewelry. She has no need for a man except to satisfy her natural serial killer instinct.

When Tyler (Ed Westwick), a petty thief, responds to her online roommate ad, he thinks he’s struck a goldmine. He has no idea after a night of partying and passion that he is really just on the menu as her next victim. Things go according to plan, until Tyler falls for Catherine. For the first time in her life, she also starts to fall for him. Catherine’s life may change until Tyler discovers the freezer filled with the severed heads and limbs of her previous dates. She must decide whether to kill Tyler to protect her secret, or start a new life worth living with a man.

Louise Linton says, “This film is a very self-aware, playful and colorful homage to the 80’s and to the films that inspired me such as 'Flash Dance', 'Footloose', and 'Dirty Dancing'. It is glamorous and consummately willful in its decadent style and neon aesthetic. It is heavily driven with dance-along 80’s hits, choreography, fight sequences, and beautiful locations. My hope for this film is that it makes people laugh at a time when we could all use some more laughter in our lives.”

Prepare for some serious serious fun this spring. Me You Madness will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Sky Store, Sony, TalkTalk in the UK and Ireland on 19th April.

First Look at Highly Anticipated Dramedy "Physical"

First look at "Physical," a new dramedy starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Rose Byrne and created by Annie Weisman, and produced by Tomorrow Studios. The 10-episode Apple Original series will make its global premiere this summer on Apple TV+.

Set in the idyllic but fragile beach paradise of sunny 1980s San Diego, "Physical" is a half-hour dark comedy following Sheila Rubin (played by Byrne), a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband's bid for state assembly. But behind closed doors, Sheila has her own darkly funny take on life she rarely lets the world see. She's also battling a complex set of personal demons relating to her self-image... that is, until she finds release through the unlikeliest source: the world of aerobics.

At first hooked on the exercise itself, Sheila's real road to empowerment comes when she discovers a way to merge this newfound passion with the burgeoning technology of videotape to start a revolutionary business. The series tracks her epic journey from a stifled, overlooked enabler to a powerful, confident economic force, as Sheila transforms into someone we take for granted today (but was entirely radical at the time) - the female lifestyle guru.

In addition to Byrne, "Physical" stars Rory Scovel, Dierdre Friel, Della Saba, Lou Taylor Pucci, Paul Sparks and Ashley Liao.

The Mezzotint, a ghost story for Christmas from M. R. James and Mark Gatiss, is announced

BBC Two and BBC iPlayer have announced The Mezzotint, a ghost story for Christmas based on the M. R. James short story and adapted for television by Mark Gatiss. The haunting standalone drama is made by Can Do Productions and Adorable Media, and will air this December.

"For sale: Interesting mezzotint: View of a manor-house, early part of last century."

It's 1922 and in the heart of an old English college, Edward Williams receives an engraving of an unknown country house. An imposing facade. A sweeping lawn. And, just perhaps, something else…?

Laced with M. R. James' trademark terror, The Mezzotint will guarantee a chill in the air for viewers this Christmas.

Rory Kinnear (Years & Years, No Time To Die) stars as Williams, alongside Robert Bathurst (Cold Feet, Downton Abbey) as Garwood, and Frances Barber (Doctor Who, Semi-Detached) as Mrs Ambrigail. The Mezzotint also stars John Hopkins (Poldark, Lucky Man), Emma Cunniffe (Roadkill, Unforgotten), Nikesh Patel (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Indian Summers), and Tommaso Di Vincenzo (Dracula).

The Mezzotint is the latest ghost story for Christmas from Mark Gatiss on the BBC, following Martin's Close in 2019, The Dead Room in 2018, The Tractate Middoth in 2013, and Crooked House in 2008. All were a ratings hit, with Martin's Close becoming BBC Four's most watched programme of 2019, with 1.5 million viewers (30-day consolidated figure).

Mark Gatiss says: "It's delightful to be bringing a little seasonal unease to the nation once again and this famous M. R. James story is just the ticket. We've assembled a top-notch team to bring this eerie mystery - and a certain enigmatic old picture - to life."

Filming wrapped recently in the South of England. The Mezzotint will air this Christmas on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Interview with Alexis Bruchon - Director of The Woman with Leopard Shoes

Ahead of FrightFest’s UK special screening of THE WOMAN WITH LEOPARD SHOES at the Glasgow Film Festival, director Alexis Bruchon talks about his love of Noir, casting his brother and directing in his underwear…

Your background is in illustration and graphic design. Was making a movie the next logical step as an artist?

From a very young age, I wanted to make a movie (as a teenager I did make a slasher called Ice Crime a true masterpiece!) - but drawing is direct, cost nothing and allows you to produce any images you want. So, I started with two unpublished graphic novels. The good thing with comics is that I realised you can tell a story with very few elements… and no money!

So, when I started on THE WOMAN WITH THE LEOPARD SHOES, drawing was highly important in the making of the film because I storyboarded everything with a lot of indications like light, moments, actions etc.

What was the inspiration for THE WOMAN IN THE LEOPARD SHOES?

Noir films are a huge inspiration for the movie, especially Robert Siodmak’s movies. The Killers (and Don Siegel’s remake!) is one of my favourites. I love very different noir films, like Murder My Sweet, Laura, Kiss Me Deadly, Road House (a very rare film from Negulesco),

I was also inspired by gothic cinema, especially the films from the Hammer and Amicus with Freddie Francis’ films, a true master! Mario Bava and Jacques Tourneur are the two other big influences, because they are masters of the off-screen. Giallo were a huge inspiration for the script because it is made of twists and manipulations.

It’s a perplexing story, twisting and turning all the time, was it difficult to write and navigate the complex revelations?

It was the hardest part because you have a very minimalist starting point: a mute character, one room and a specific situation. There were two traps, in my opinion: making a telephone thriller with a lot of dialogues and no visual elements, or making another survival film with action and action alone. The idea on the contrary, was to develop a complex story, close to the 70’s paranoiac thrillers, told with images only, and where the solution is outside the room, invisible from the audience.  In fact, I developed the script through the set: a writing desk, a little bed, a closet, a window and a door, that’s it! With these limitations you have to play with space because it becomes information: if my character goes here, it tells something and it brings something to the story. Basically it’s the story of a man walking around a desk.

Your leading man Paul Bruchon is obviously a relation. Which, and why choose him?

Paul is my brother and he has never acted before! At the beginning, I planned to hire a real actor and I have to confess that the role was written for a woman at the beginning. One day, my brother just asked ‘’well it could be fun, just to see’’… I took my camera and started to shoot. He was exactly what I was looking for! He has a real presence and most of all a real elegance. It’s difficult to explain, because he’s my brother, but on the screen, when he moves you can feel his presence in the room.

All my family contributed to the film: Both my parents play a character, in fact each person of the crew plays a character! For example, I play Boyer but one day, for a scene, I was alone with Pauline Morel, my best friend and first assistant and I had to be behind the camera… so I dressed her in my suit and tie and here I am, in my underwear, yelling action to poor Pauline, who had to act like a forty years old upper class man!.

The story is told visually through silhouettes and shadows in super black-and-white,. You never show other people but their presence is always felt. All creative and budgetary choices?

All these choices were made for the script but, yes, also because of budgetary reasons. The film had a small budget but with a big set that we had to build entirely so it was impossible to us to show anything else and I think (I hope) it’s for the best.

Black and white was logical for me because colour can distract the eye. Benjamin Cognet, our gaffer was helpful to achieve it and we built the entire room in order to control light.

Where did you film?

All the shooting takes place in my parent’s home. I measured the living room and built, with Leopol Maurice, a big box. The shooting was a very happy time; the crew was composed of my friends and my parents made food!

You edited the movie too and also composed the evocative soundtrack. Had you done anything like this before and how big a learning curve was it?

It was my first experience from writing to editing and it was a personal challenge. It will sound pretentious but I’m not a good pupil, I always hated school and I prefer to learn by myself. Of course it would be more efficient to employ an editor, a cinematographer, a sound designer, but I deeply wanted to learn how to make a movie from start to end. Obviously, the first day I was in front of my computer to edit the first scene I was a bit panicky because I didn’t know any techniques.

From the beginning I knew sound would be very important. Sound is a character in itself and I decided to work it as a visual element. Music was a big source of stress… I had never composed a single note and I planned to hire a friend of mine to make the soundtrack but, once again, he was not available so I started to listen to some soundtracks that I love and decided to write the music on the editing timeline, directly with the images. I recorded very different sounds with a microphone and stole some rhythmic, very brief moments from various soundtracks (there is a sample from Alien for example) and I edited it like rushes.

How did the COVID-19 outbreak affect the film?

The music was written during the first month of lockdown in France so the beginning of COVID was (sorry to say) but pretty fun for me… A perfect film for our socially distanced times: set almost entirely in one room, with one single silent character on screen and most communication via text message.,

More generally, COVID shows the growing importance of digital tech in our lives. Sometime it’s for the best and your digital edition of FrightFest is a good example, sometimes it’s for the worst…

Where did you get the pair of leopard shoes? We want some!

Gorgeous, aren’t they? Well, it was difficult to find the right ones. Me and Pauline Morel (who chose most of the costumes of the film) are real shoes fashionista now! Ask us everything you want about leopard shoes! The pair you see were found on the internet so… you just have to click and find them!

Finally, what’s next?

I’m about to shoot my second feature in March! A horror film made with the same circumstances as the first. The Woman with Leopard Shoes is the first film of a trilogy with the same concept: one character, one situation and almost no dialogues. The idea is to cover three genres, the film Noir with the first one, the horror film with this second and the paranoiac thriller with the third. The script and the storyboard are finished, we have the actors and the set is ready to be built! Me and my father have built a crane which permits the camera to go absolutely everywhere because tiny spaces will be very important for the story.

All I can say is that it’s a movie which began like a possession story then goes to a ghost story and finally to a fantastic thriller. I’m very excited to start shooting! I have also my first script, a story of kidnapping but I need more money to do it. It’s not an expensive film at all but impossible to make just on my own… but I will do it, one way or another!

THE WOMAN WITH LEOPARD SHOES is showing on demand for 72 hours from 4.00 pm 5th March, as part of the Arrow Video FrightFest Glasgow 2021 Digital event.

The film is geo-locked to the UK and limited to 500 tickets, Tickets are priced £9.99. For more information: www.glasgowfilm.org/festival

PATHÉ ANNOUNCES ‘THE GREAT ESCAPER’ STARRING MICHAEL CAINE & GLENDA JACKSON

Pathé today announced that they will be presenting a new feature film, THE GREAT ESCAPER, at this year's Berlin Film Market.  Inspired by true events, the film will tell the story of Bernard Jordan's escape from his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in France.

The film is set to star two time Oscar winner and six time nominee, Sir Michael Caine (The Quiet American, The Cider House Rules, Hannah and Her Sisters, Educating Rita, Sleuth and Alfie) and two time Oscar winner and four time nominee, Glenda Jackson (Hedda, A Touch of Class, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Women In Love).

In the summer of 2014 - the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings - octogenarian Bernard Jordan (Michael Caine) made global headlines.  He'd staged a "great escape" from his care home to join fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy, commemorating their fallen comrades.

It was a story that captured the imagination of the world - Bernie seemed to embody the defiant, "can-do" spirit of a generation that was fast disappearing.  But of course, it wasn't the whole story.  It was the story we all tell ourselves to make war and old age bearable.  The bitter-sweet script explores the reality with wit and a very big heart.

Bernie's adventure, spanning a mere 48 hours, also marked the culmination of his 60-year marriage to Irene (Glenda Jackson) - the story celebrates their love without sentimentality and with an eye to the lessons we might all learn from the Greatest Generation.

The film will be directed by BAFTA nominee Oliver Parker (An Ideal Husband) from a script by BAFTA nominee William Ivory (Made in Dagenham) and is scheduled to start principal photography in June this year.

Parker commented: 'No one can resist a script that makes people both laugh and cry – I loved Billy's writing and the story itself, so inspirational and so moving, seemed to speak to our times and our need for heroes on a human scale, whether people like Bernard Jordan or our doctors and nurses.   And now to have Michael and Glenda - two iconic actors - agree to honour this story with their brilliance, it's the cherry on the cake!'

The film will be produced by BAFTA nominees Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae (Nowhere Boy) and is an Ecosse Films production for Pathe, BBC Film and Ingenious Media.  Executive Producers are Cameron McCracken and Jenny Borgars for Pathé; Rose Garnett for BBC Film; and Andrea Scarso for Ingenious.

Pathé will distribute the film in the UK, France and Switzerland and will handle sales throughout the rest of the world.

ITV commissions new film on the trial of Louise Woodward

ITV has commissioned a new film on the trial of Louise Woodward, the 19-year-old British au pair accused of the murder, by shaking, of nine month old baby, Matthew Eappen, in her care while she was working in the US.

The Trial of Louise Woodward [WT], produced by Voltage TV, will mark 25 years since the 1997 trial, the highest profile court case in the US featuring a British defendant, which was played out on television screens across both sides of the Atlantic.

With access to many of the key figures closest to the case – and including contributions from those who have never spoken since it ended -  this film aims to illuminate each key step of the trial and its aftermath.

Examining whether advances in medical science since the 1997 trial might have changed the verdict in this case, the film will also bring revealing insights from the experts for the prosecution and defence who ferociously disagreed about key facts at the time.  Some claimed Louise had violently shaken Matthew in a "frustrated, unhappy and resentful rage", while others asserted his injuries were several months old.  Including contributions from the judge and jury who failed to reach agreement on her sentence – the latter's 'guilty' verdict, which condemned her to 15 years for murder was downgraded to manslaughter in a shock last-minute move by the presiding judge  – the film will shed new light on the case.

The film, The Trial of Louise Woodward, is commissioned for ITV by Tom Giles, ITV Controller of Current Affairs.

Tom said: "The trial of Louise Woodward made a unique impact and is still vividly remembered now, decades later. This film, with its close access to the key figures involved in the case, promises to deliver an eye-opening insight into the pressures bearing down on proceedings to tell us how and why it played out as it did and how its conclusion is a continuing source of division."

Sanjay Singhal is Executive Producer for Voltage TV: "Like millions of others, I remember being gripped by the daily twists and turns of the extraordinary court case as it was headline news every night. I'd like to try to show what it must have been like to go through that for both sides: a young British woman at the centre of a legal storm – and the bereaved parents who felt that justice was not done because of a scientific argument that continues to this day."

First look image of Keeping Faith 3

First-look image for the third and final series of Keeping Faith - the BBC iPlayer hit starring Eve Myles - due to air soon on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Eve Myles returns as Faith Howells as she attempts to navigate the fall out of her marriage break-up, while taking on an emotionally wrenching legal medical case involving a gravely ill little boy.

Bradley Freegard as Evan Howells and Mark Lewis Jones as Steve Baldini are joined by Olivier award-winning Celia Imrie (Victoria Wood: As Seen On TV, Dinnerladies, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) for this third series.

Matthew Aubrey (Made in Dagenham, The Gospel Of Us), Bafta Award-winning actress Dame Sian Phillips, and presenter and actor Shaun Fletcher have also joined the cast.

Keeping Faith was originally developed by S4C as Un Bore Mercher. Produced for BBC Wales and S4C by Vox Pictures, in association with APC and Nevision. Directed by Pip Broughton and Judith Dine, written by Matthew Hall and Pip Broughton, and produced by Pip Broughton and Llyr Morus.

Helena Bonham Carter and David Mitchell join the stellar cast for The Cleaner, written by and starring Greg Davies

The cast for The Cleaner includes: Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown), David Mitchell (Upstart Crow, Back), Stephanie Cole (Still Open All Hours), Donald Sumpter (Game Of Thrones), Shobu Kapoor (Four Weddings And A Funeral), Ruth Madeley (Years And Years), Layton Williams (Everybody's Talking About Jamie musical), Zita Sattar (Casualty), Georgie Glen (The Crown, Call The Midwife), Bill Skinner (Ted Lasso) and Esmonde Cole (Still So Awkward).

Written by and starring Greg Davies, The Cleaner follows Paul 'Wicky' Wickstead, a state-certified cleaning technician with a very special field of work - he is a crime-scene cleaner responsible for the removal of any signs of death.

Armed with chemicals, scrubbing brushes and cleaning rags, Wicky removes the gruesome mess at the scene of the crime. When carrying out his duties, he stumbles across the strangest of people, from the victim's relatives, employers, neighbours and acquaintances to occasionally even the murderers themselves. And because he's a sociable type, he sometimes gossips more than he cleans…

Greg Davies says: "I'm thrilled that this remarkable collection of actors has agreed to appear next to me on screen. Scrubbing up blood in a hazmat suit in front of them will be a pleasure."
