Synopsis
Ninety-seven years ago, nuclear Armageddon decimated planet Earth, destroying civilization. The only survivors were the 400 inhabitants of 12 international space stations that were in orbit at the time. Three generations have been born in space, the survivors now number 4,000, and resources are running out on their dying "Ark" - the 12 stations now linked together and repurposed to keep the survivors alive. Draconian measures including capital punishment and population control are the order of the day, as the leaders of the Ark take ruthless steps to ensure their future, including secretly exiling a group of 100 juvenile prisoners to the Earth's surface to test whether it's habitable.

For the first time in nearly a century, humans have returned to planet Earth. Among the 100 exiles are Clarke, the bright teenage daughter of the Ark's chief medical officer; Wells, son of the Ark’s Chancellor; the daredevil Finn; and the brother/sister duo Bellamy and Octavia, whose illegal sibling status has always led them to flaunt the rules.

Technologically blind to what’s happening on the planet below them, the Ark’s leaders - Clarke’s widowed mother, Abby; the Chancellor, Jaha; and his shadowy second in command, Kane - are faced with difficult decisions about life, death and the continued existence of the human race. For the 100 young people on Earth, however, the alien planet they’ve never known is a mysterious realm that can be magical one moment and lethal the next. With the survival of the human race entirely in their hands, THE 100 must find a way to transcend their differences, unite and forge a new path on a wildly changed Earth that’s primitive, intense and teeming with the unknown.

Athos

Athos is brave, resourceful and a natural leader of men. But he nurses a dark secret in his past.

A brilliant swordsman, Athos is the glue that binds the Musketeers together. His character commands respect. At first sight he can appear arrogant but his offhand manner disguises a deep capacity for friendship. He is wryly humorous and engaging but during bouts of solitary drinking he has the capacity to hit the self-destruct button. At these times, the bottled-up darkness from his past threatens to engulf him.

Tom Burke

Tom is one of the UK's most highly respected and versatile young actors with starring roles across stage, screen & television. His film credits include The Invisible Woman, I Want Candy, and Only God Forgives. His work for television includes In Love With Barbara, Great Expectations, Napoleon, Bella And The Boys and the award-winning State of Play. Tom was recently seen in The Hour and comedy series Heading Out.

D'Artagnan

D’Artagnan is charismatic, impulsive and ridiculously brave with a fierce appetite for justice.

Although still young, d’Artagnan has seen enough of the world to despise its corruption and compromise. Raised in the country and trained as a fighter since he was a boy, only Athos can match his exceptional skill with a sword. Athletic and determined, he is also intensely romantic, with a moving capacity for true love. In time d’Artagnan will go on to be the greatest Musketeer of them all and a legend in his own lifetime.

Luke Pasqualino

Luke is perhaps most recognisable from his role in E4’s BAFTA award winning series Skins. Following this he was cast alongside Jeremy Irons in the critically acclaimed, The Borgias. Luke has also had cameo roles in the award winning BBC sitcom, Miranda. Last year saw Luke in the supernatural horror film The Apparition and in the lead role in comedy/horror film Love Bite. Most recently Luke starred in the leading role in Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. Luke will next be seen in Joon-ho Bong’s thriller, Snowpiercer, alongside Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton and Octavia Spencer.

Porthos

A great fighter, a loyal friend and a man who lives life to the full.

Raised in desperate poverty and triumphing over every kind of adversity, Porthos has finally found his true family in the Musketeers. Intensely loyal to his friends and a natural fighter, he is the go-to guy for hand-to-hand combat and the man you always want on your side in a fight. Self-educated, as quick in thought as he is in action, Porthos has a lively sense of humour but is not a man to cross.

Howard Charles

Howard has appeared in stage productions of The Cherry Orchard and Enron. He starred in the Royal Shakespeare Company productions of The Merchant of Venice and Macbeth, and most recently Blackta at The Young Vic. Television work includes Beautiful People, Candy Chops and Switch. Howard most recently appeared in the feature film &Me.

The 10-part drama (10x60) for transmission in 2014 is a BBC Drama Production for BBC One, co-produced by BBC WorldWide and BBC America. Jessica Pope is the BBC executive producer, Adrian Hodges is an executive producer and lead writer, and Colin Wratten is producer.

London (Monday December 23, 2013): TNA IMPACT WRESTLING star Magnus has become the first ever Brit to win the World Heavyweight Championship for a major American wrestling organisation, ending a wait of more than 108 years.

Magnus (former TV Gladiator Nick Aldis from King's Lynn, Norfolk) beat Jeff Hardy for the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship in a gripping tournament final.

His victory was broadcast to millions of people in more than 120 countries, including on Challenge TV in the UK and Ireland on Sunday December 22, 2013.

Magnus will bring his newly-won championship home when he visits five arenas around Britain and Ireland on the TNA MAXIMUM IMPACT VI Tour in January/February 2014.

He said: “It is truly an honour and a privilege to be the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion. I'm looking forward to bringing the title belt back to where it all started for me. It's something I've always dreamed of doing.

“It's also important to represent all the people in the UK wrestling business that helped me get to this point, and hopefully show the young British talent that there is no glass ceiling; you can be a top guy!”

Magnus’ title win ends one the longest waits in British sporting history, which began when Russian George Hackenschmidt beat American Tom Jenkins on May 4, 1905 to become wrestling’s first widely regarded World Heavyweight Champion.

The victory puts Magnus alongside Tour De France winner Bradley Wiggins (109 years), boxing’s former Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis (100 years), Wimbledon men’s singles victor Andy Murray (77 years) and 1980 men’s 100 metres Olympic Gold Medallist Alan Wells (56 years).

Wrestling historian and author John Lister said: “While the likes of the legendary British Bulldog, William Regal, Wade Barrett and Doug Williams have all had great success in America, they've fallen short in their challenges for the World Heavyweight Championship.

“It's a great achievement for Magnus to become the No1 wrestler in a globally televised promotion and also shows how important the British audience is to TNA.

“For decades it seemed impossible that we would ever see a British man win Wimbledon, hold a World Heavyweight Championship for a major wrestling company or lift the World Cup again. With two down in the same year, perhaps it's an omen for next summer in Rio!”

As well as a successful career inside the wrestling ring, Magnus has also found fame in a variety of different fields – including as Oblivion on Sky One’s Gladiators, the co-host of hit Challenge TV series UK’s Strongest Man, a popular Christmas pantomime regular at the Norwich Theatre Royal and a columnist for Fighting Spirit Magazine.

Fluffy on the outside, but with a rod of steel through her centre, Linda Carter’s going to inject some energy into Walford!

Linda may look pink and fluffy, but under her heavily blow-dried quiff beats the heart of a little fighter. Bubbly and a bit ditzy at times, Linda was a stunner in her youth and although her husband Mick may joke that she’s got a few more miles on the clock these days, she’s certainly still in great nick for her age.

Linda has a critical tongue and will say hurtful things without realising it. But really Linda has a good heart and just wants people to be happy – though usually on her terms. For Linda it’s ‘my way or the high way’ and she has little time for people who don’t do as they’re told– like Shirley and Tina!

There’s nothing more important to Linda than her family. She prides herself on being a great wife and mother. However, her lioness tendencies sometimes lead her to go overboard on the love and affection front and she can come across as a bit of a ‘smother’. She’s a solid friend and is always happy to be the centre of attention, whether it’s with the girls or having some flirty banter with the lads. She’d never take things too far though – she loves her Mick more than anything!

Tina’s the kind of woman who can drink you under the table whilst making you cry with laughter with her back catalogue of dirty jokes. She is a loud, vivacious big kid who will do anything for a laugh.

There is never a dull moment when Tina is around. She lives life for the moment and doesn’t take anything too seriously! She is brash and naughty - her unpredictable nature and fondness for practical jokes is a dangerous combination, often landing her in hot water.

However, it’s not all practical jokes with Miss Carter, she has a deeper side. She is loyal, a great listener and wears her heart on her sleeve. She is forever a child in an adult’s body and has never really grown up. Truth is, she doesn’t much want to!

Tina is a lesbian and doesn’t care who knows it. She loves strong women and the drama of being in a relationship, often sabotaging a good thing when she sees it. She also gets a big kick out of flirting with men – often leading to more than just flirting! Tina has tried relationships with men in the past (There was Zsa Zsa’s father for starters…) but they have always ended in disaster because of her attraction to women.

She always intended to have a good relationship with Zsa Zsa. She was loving and caring but unfortunately never mature enough. Growing tired of mothering her own mother, Zsa Zsa moved out and the two now do little more than exchanging cards at Christmas. Tina pretends that she’s fine with this arrangement but deep down she yearns to have a better relationship with her daughter, but there’s no point crying over spilt milk, what’s done is done…

Tina has a close bond with her brother Mick, they’ve been through a lot together - cemented by their very early years in care. However, it was always her sister Shirley that Tina would turn to in crisis. She owes Shirley an awful lot and would do anything for her – even standing up to Phil Mitchell if need be! Tina knows Shirley inside out and enjoys nothing more than pressing Shirley’s buttons and then stepping back to watch the fireworks!

From what we've seen so far the coaches each have a very distinct style, but there's a whole lot of mutual love and respect on that panel... and fun.

Interview with Navot Papushado (Director of "Rabies" & "Big Bad Wolf")

This month Horror Channel is showing the UK TV premiere of RABIES, the first slasher to come out of Israel, One of its directors, Navot Papushado (left), took time out to chat about this movie and its equally horrifying shocker Big Bad Wolves due to be released in the UK in January 2014.


RABIES is broadcast on Saturday Dec 28 at 10.50pm.

Q: Have you always been a big horror fan?

NP: Oh yes! We grew up in the 80s and watched everything that came out of the US . We grew up on Steven Spielberg and George Lucas and Wes Craven and John Carpenter, everything that came out of the US . Later on we discovered European and Korean cinema and obviously the Coen Brothers and Tarantino.

Q:: Did your classification system ever censor these films?

NP: No, actually the opposite. The Israeli censorship board don’t take any notice of horror films, for example Piranha 3D came out in Israel at the same time that Rabies did and we got rated 18 and above, whilst Piranha 3D for 14 and above. Kick Ass got 12 and above! I think it has to do with Israeli audiences not being that keen on horror films, even the big US horror films like Saw, Hostel and Paranormal Activity don’t do very well.

Q: Where did the idea for Rabies come from?

NP: We decided we wanted to get rid of the serial killer character and decided that we wanted to have all of the other characters kill each other, so there had to be more than the motive of running away from a serial killer so we had to write more complex characters therefore everyone would need a background story. Everyone would have a motivation to kill. The first story we wrote was the one about the Cop who always leaves messages for his wife who never answers and then he leaves this horrible one and then she answers (laughs) so we realised we had to write all the others to match that dramatic element and character development and that’s how Rabies was born.

Q: Did the script change much from the first draft to the shooting script?

NP: No, we pitched it to a couple of producers, we showed them the draft and they were like, “OK, let’s wait for Government funds” but we didn’t want to do that. Then we met a guy who said, “How much do you want?” and we said an amount and he said, “OK I’ll give you half!” Then he asked, “How many days do you need?” and so we told him at least 20 and he said, “I’ll give you 15!” We got the green light from that script and just went out and shot it.

Q: Was it a tough shoot?

NP: Yes and no. We didn’t realise it at the time that it was tough as it was our first feature even though we had done a few shorts before. But it was a shoestring budget and everyone on set was less experienced than us so we had to hide this from the actors!

Q: Did you have any actors in mind when writing the script?

NP: Yeah, a couple of them. Actually when we pitched we told the producer that we wanted all these actors and they pointed out that we didn’t have that kind of money and we told him not to worry and that we’d take care of that!

Q: Rabies has a very strong story, do you think that helped reach out to audiences?

NP: Thank you very much. One thing is we cast all A-list actors from Israel so it was like seeing Kate Blanchet or Tom Cruise in a horror movie so Rabies was kind of an event. It was more than a horror movie, everyone wanted to see their favourite actor get murdered, or something like that (laughs)

 Q: Do you think one of its greatest assets is that most of the effects are practical and old school?

NP: Yeah, even on Big Bad Wolves there is only one shot that lasts only three or four seconds that we had to use visual effects. We believe in getting everyone done on the set.

Q: What did the critics think of Rabies when it was released in Israel?

NP: I think they were split. The older critics didn’t quite get it. They also don’t like violent films so they don’t like Tarantino films or Korean films for example. The younger critics, and when I say younger I mean under 45, they all loved it and gave it 5 stars, they loved it. It was a critical success and a box office success. There was an older critic whom we admire, considered to be the most acclaimed critic in Israel who writes for a newspaper whose logo is, “A Newspaper for Thinking People”, and he loved it! It gained a cult status through VOD and DVD sales.

Q: If you had made Rabies before Big Bad Wolves would you have approached it differently.

NP: That’s a really tough question. Rabies is Rabies because of the time it was shot, because of the budget when it was shot and the ideas that we had at the time and our approach. Rabies was shot hand held in the woods because that is the genre. You have to shoot films and edit films to fit the genre so I’m really pleased with everything we did with Rabies.

Q: Would you make Rabies 2?

NP: Oh, maybe when I’m old and Rabies has gained such a cult status and they give me $10 million dollars and a budget for $100 million dollars (laughs).

Q: Are you pleased Rabies is being shown on the Horror Channel?

NP: Yeah, defiantly. We are huge fans of the UK . The UK has been so kind to us over he last couple of years starting from FrightFest from two years ago when they showed Rabies. You really can’t compete with the British audience. They are fanatics, they love horror films. The screening of Big Bad Wolves earlier this year in front of 1,300 people was incredible. We are extremely happy with what’s going on in the UK with our films. You guys seem to get us!

Q: So what are you working on at the moment?

NP: We are promoting Big Bad Wolves which is coming out in the UK in January and working on a couple of projects here in Israel that we are starting to push and also receiving a few scripts from the US. We are writing a spaghetti western that’s set in the early 40s and a few science fiction scripts.

The Best of Pro Wrestling Awards 2013 WWE

I had a few requests on Twitter to do my own end of year awards for Pro-Wrestling, since we have just had the Slammys.

These awards are for WWE only, if I get chance I will do awards for TNA and NXT as well.

These are only my opinion, no votes have taken place, if you disagree feel free to post a comment or Tweet me and say why.

Best Wrestler:
I think everyone will agree that the stand out performer for WWE this year was Daniel Bryan, he never lost his motivation, never lost his hunger, and despite being screwed over time after time, he never gave up, and the crowd responses he still commands prove that. 2013 was a break out year for Daniel Bryan, the year that truly took him to the top of the card. Only Vince knows what will happen for Bryan in 2014, but I for one hope he doesn't give up, and eventually he gets his rewards

Runners-Up: CM Punk, Goldust, The Usos

Best Female Wrestler
For me this was an easy one, Natalya is consistently the most credible Diva in the whole of WWE, she always has good matches, and you always believe in her. I like AJ Lee, but she doesn't seem credible to me, this is not a knock on her cause she is smaller, but there is a difference between someone small like Daniel Bryan being able to beat The Big Show, and someone like AJ who is literally built like a teenage girl beating a powerhouse like Kaitlyn. I hope 2014 is Natties year as she truly deserves it!

Runners-Up: Kaitlyn, AJ Lee, The Bellas

Match of the Year.
This was a tough one, but for me it had to be Daniel Bryan vs John Cena at Summerslam. Right up until they completely ruined it by having Randy Orton cash in his MitB contract. It was a great match and Bryan carried John Cena to a whole new height. Bryan has consistently brought out the best in whoever he wrestles and that is what gives him credibility as a champion. Unfortunately Vince had to spoil what would have been the most satisfying win in over a decade for someone who truly deserved it by having Orton take the title, I have no problem with the MitB concept for this was a mistake, they should have let Bryan have his moment, and have Orton cash in later.

Runners-Up: CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Undertaker vs CM Punk at WrestleMania

Missed Opportunity.
This was simple, it was having Super Cena on one leg and one arm, after getting beaten down, then beat Damien Sandow, it was a ridiculous decision that totally buried Damien Sandow. The match they had when Sandow cashed in the MitB contract was a great match, probably the best of Sandows career so far, but to have Cena win was so ridiculous under the circumstances, it completely destroyed Sandow as a performer and legitimate challenger to the top titles.

Cena should have done the job to Sandow, Sandow could have had a month or two with the belt and then Cena can win it back if he has to, but by losing Sandow is now lost in shuffle with everyone else, and the whole push he had as MitB contract winner was completely pointless.

Runners-Up: Natalya not winning Divas championship at TLC, Kane not getting revenge on The Wyatts

Breakout Star.
Everyone expected Dean Ambrose to be the big breakout star this year, Seth Rollins also, but the true break out star of the year was Roman Reigns, he has the look, the power, the heritage. He has it all to be a big name player for WWE for the next decade. He could be the next Rock if he continues to develop.

Runners-Up: Fandango, Big E Langston, Dean Ambrose

Best Manager/Valet/Associate.
Not a huge amount of choice in this category, but I wanted it here as Paul Heyman needs to win an award here! In general everything he touches turns to gold, although I think he could have done better with Ryback, he did take Curtis Axel and help make him a credible star.

When Paul Heyman speaks, everyone listens, and we are all looking forward to his return with Brock Lesnar!

Runners-Up: Ricardo Rodriguez, Summer Rae, David Otunga

Best authority figure
I always like Vicky Guerrero, there is no other authority figure that can generate heel heat like her, she is funny, entertaining, powerful and so much more. She plays her character perfectly!

Runners-Up: Triple H, Brad Maddox, Teddy Long, Kane
