DIRECTOR HWANG DONG-HYUK TO PRODUCE NEW KOREAN ORIGINAL SERIES, ROUND SIX

Award-winning director Hwang Dong-hyuk will produce a new Korean original series, Round Six.

Round Six is a story of people who fail at life for various reasons, but suddenly receive a mysterious invitation to participate in a survival game to win ten million US dollars. The game takes place at an unknown location, and the participants are locked up until there is a final winner. The story will incorporate popular children’s games from the 1970s and 1980s of Korea, such as squid game, literal translation of its Korean name, which is a type of tag where offense and defense use a squid-shaped board drawn in the dirt.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk is known for his latest work, The Fortress (2017), for which he won numerous prestigious awards, including best screenplay at Blue Dragon Film Awards. For audiences outside Korea, Hwang is also well associated with a huge box office hit Miss Granny (2014), which has been adapted in many Asian countries, such as China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

“I’m already thrilled at the prospect of introducing Round Six to global audience through Netflix. I also have high expectations for the great collaborative work I’ll be having with them,” explains Hwang as this is his first time working with the global entertainment company.

Round Six will be available only on Netflix, with its launch date to be announced at a later time.

Uriel Emil joins cast of BBC One’s Casualty as new paramedic Lev

Uriel Emil joins the long-running BBC One medical drama this Autumn as new paramedic Lev.
Steely and tough but gentle at heart, Lev certainly makes an entrance on his first day on the job when Jan and Ruby catch him in a scrap with someone outside the ambulance station. A devoted family man, Lev will have his world rocked on all fronts in the coming year.

Uriel Emil says: “I feel privileged and honoured to be part of the Casualty clan and I hope the viewers will enjoy the fresh angle explored through my storyline”.

Simon Harper, Executive Producer of Casualty and Holby City says: “Uriel brings a fantastic, exciting energy to the table in his portrayal of the troubled Lev. As a Russian paramedic with a stormy past he’s a really fresh and unique character in the Casualty mix, and I’m so looking forward to the audience getting to know him in what’s going to be an explosive series.”

Casualty viewers will see Uriel on screen as Lev in September on BBC One.

BBC One daytime’s Crimewatch Roadshow Live is back to crack the UK's biggest unsolved cases

Crimewatch Roadshow Live returns to BBC One daytime on Monday 9 September. Every weekday morning for three weeks, the series appeals to the public to help solve the UK’s biggest unsolved cases.

In the studio, former detective Rav Wilding will reveal the latest crime fighting gadgets and techniques, and ask the audience to identify crooks caught on CCTV. He’ll also be appealing for your help to find individuals sought by the police in the daily wanted faces gallery.

Rav says: “It’s great to be back with the team for a new series. As someone who’s worked in the police, I know just how important the public are to solving crimes. They really can make a difference! I’ve been involved in the Roadshow since it began, but I continue to be amazed by the sheer dedication of the police and emergency teams that work to make all our communities safer.”

Reporter Michelle Ackerley is also gearing up for three weeks of live shows on the road. She’ll travel the country, meeting detectives determined to solve crimes in their area. She’ll also go behind the scenes with police and emergency services; getting hands-on experience of the many ways they’re working to protect the public.

Michelle Ackerley says: “It’s a real privilege to be part of a programme that helps the police to solve numerous crimes year on year. Crimewatch Roadshow Live also gives audiences a real insight into the incredible work emergency service teams do across the UK. I’m extremely proud to be a part of such a hard working team and am really looking forward to my 5th series.”

The Roadshow kicks off the first week of the series in the north of England where we meet the teams tackling a UK-wide increase in violent offences.

On the 20th anniversary of the murder of a Suffolk schoolgirl, Crimewatch Roadshow Live interviews her parents, making their emotional appeal for information which could finally bring her killer to justice. Live on the programme, detectives will also reveal exclusive new footage which has come to light since the investigation was reopened.

The team also has the exclusive in-depth story of how police caught the UK’s most prolific cat burglar – the notorious Wimbledon Prowler. The programme hears from the detective who headed up the investigation which finally led to his capture.

As latest figures show a dramatic rise in illegal puppy farming, we join the RSPCA teams who investigate this growing problem. Puppies from these farms often end up suffering horrific health problems due to lack of proper care in their first weeks. We meet one woman whose designer pup nearly died.

Crimewatch Roadshow Live is also out on the beat with the new Metropolitan Police team catching up with the capital’s most dangerous drivers. And in Staffordshire the crew meet police dog Audi who was attacked on duty earlier this year. His case recently resulted in the first successful prosecution under the newly introduced Finn’s Law which has seen tougher sentences introduced for people who attack service animals, including police dogs and horses.

Cast revealed for His Dark Materials daemons and animal characters

Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials explores a world in which sentient, talking animals are found in two ways.

Daemons
Each human is accompanied by their daemon; the physical manifestation of a person’s soul, a reflection of their inner self and their lifelong companion through the world.

Daemons take on the appearance of an animal, but with the voice and the intelligence of a human. In childhood, a daemon can change its animal form at will, but at a certain stage of adolescence a daemon settles into its final form - forever reflecting the character of their person.

Alongside the previously announced cast for the series (Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, James McAvoy And Lin-Manuel Miranda) are some of the world’s finest acting talent - who will voice these animalistic daemon characters within the series.

Helen McCrory (Harry Potter) voices Stelmaria, Lord Asriel’s Snow Leopard, while David Suchet (Poirot) is Kaisa, gyrfalcon daemon to the witch Serafina Pekkala (played by Ruta Gedmintas).

Aeronaut Lee Scoresby’s daemon is an arctic hare called Hester, voiced by American comedian Cristela Alonzo and Lyra Belacqua’s unsettled daemon, Pantalaimon, is voiced by Kit Connor (Rocketman).

Although Mrs Coulter’s mysterious Golden Monkey doesn’t speak or have a name, his animal noises and vocal characteristics will be created by Brian Fisher (Detective Pikachu), who is also lead puppeteer and CFX coordinator on the series. Puppets were used on set to help the actors form a relationship with their daemon before being created in CGI by Framestore.

Armoured Bears
Finally, in the frozen wilderness of the North exist a race of armoured bears (or panserbjørne). Both skilled metal workers and fierce warriors, they have their own culture and laws. Notable to the series is Iorek Byrnison, a bear who Lyra meets on her quest who will be voiced by Joe Tandberg (The Innocents).

Lyra (Dafne Keen) is the young protagonist of the story who lives in Jordan College, Oxford. Placed there at the request of her Uncle, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) she lives a sheltered life amongst the scholars and college staff while under the watchful protection of The Master (Clarke Peters) and Librarian Scholar Charles (Ian Gelder).

When the glamorous and mesmeric Mrs Coulter (Ruth Wilson) enters Lyra’s life she embarks upon a dangerous journey of discovery from Oxford to London. Here she meets Father Macphail (Will Keen), Lord Boreal (Ariyon Bakare) and journalist Adele Starminster (Georgina Campbell) at a glittering society party where she first hears about the sinister General Oblation Board.

Lyra is subsequently thrown into the nomadic world of the boat dwelling Gyptians - Ma Costa (Anne-Marie Duff), Farder Coram (James Cosmo), John Faa (Lucian Msamati), Raymond Van Geritt (Mat Fraser), Jack Verhoeven (Geoff Bell) and Benjamin de Ruyter (Simon Manyonda) who take her North in her quest. Once in the North she meets charismatic aeronaut and adventurer Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda) who joins them on their epic journey and who becomes one of Lyra’s closest allies.

His Dark Materials is produced by Bad Wolf and New Line Cinema for BBC One and HBO.

Charlie Condou joins BBC One’s Holby City as Ben

Charlie Condou joins the long-running BBC One medical drama this winter as Ben, a new locum surgeon on the Keller ward.

Ben is a charming, alpha consultant who will be stirring up the dynamics in the hospital, and it won’t be long before he catches the eye of someone in the team…

Charlie Condou says: “I’m over the moon to be joining Holby City as suave new Doctor Ben Sherwood. He’s a good guy but will definitely be ruffling a few feathers over the coming months. I can’t wait to get started!”

Simon Harper, Executive Producer of Holby City and Casualty, says: “Charlie’s a very fine actor and well known popular TV face - and we are very lucky to have tempted him to Holby. I can’t wait to see him as Ben, both causing a stir and getting under the skin of his colleagues on Keller!”

Holby City viewers will see Charlie on screen as Ben from December on BBC One.

Holby City is a BBC Studios Production.

Exclusive Interview with Actor Sean Dillingham

1. The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre is a film that puts pro wrestling and zombies in the same arena, when you started out in your acting career, did you ever imagine yourself appearing in a wrestling film, a zombie film, or even a film that combined both?

No!  Hahaha!  But then again there are a lot roles and things I couldn’t imagine!  Being thrown out of a cave by a polar bear, playing a miniature worker that works inside a side machine, etc.  I was exposed to wrestling at a young age, in the 1970’s.  Before it was about big arenas and whatnot.  When tv shows held a studio audience of 100 and the ring was right there in the audience.  The wrestlers had to be not only great wrestlers and performers but had to have the big personalities to boot! The best one?  Ric Flair!  Wooooo! Zombie movies have always fascinated the public, and I’m a fan as well!  Night of the living dead, all the cult classics!

2. You star as a wrestler called "Big Wang", I hate to even think where that name comes from, what can you tell us about your character and do you know if it was based on a real wrestler, or does the writer just have a vivid imagination?

Well, here’s the story and then I will leave it up to your imagination and just tell people, you have GOT to see this film!  It’s not based on any real wrestler, and the truth is, I read for 3 or 4 characters in this film, the producers and director narrowed it down to a character named Big Wang, which originally called for an Asian actor, but since they had complete creative control, allowed me to bring to the character what I wanted and brother, it is funny!  I auditioned with heart shaped sunglasses a faux-hawk hairdo, no shirt with a black fur lined cape.  This movie will be a cult classic!

3. The film also stars two of history's legit toughest men, Randy Couture and Bas Rutten, what was it like to work alongside these two? Did you ever feel intimidated or are they the proverbial pussy cats in real life?

Well, I wouldn’t call them pussy-cats, but they were perfect gentlemen and professional actors.  Everyone on the crew and cast was just superb and super focused!

4. The "Zomedy" seems to be the route for most Horror Zombie films these days, and this film falls under that banner, as a zombie comedy, how much fun is it to be a part of a film that doesn't take itself too seriously? Or is the making of such a film very serious, despite the nature of what the film is about?

If the film turns out half as fun as it was to make, it is sure to be a hit!  I mean come on, pro-wrestlers past their prime and zombies??  What could be better?!?

5. Before acting in this film, were you ever a fan of zombie films, or pro wrestling?

Always liked the zombie flicks and was a fan of pro-wrestling.  Still watch it today with my family and even go to live events.

6. You have appeared in over 50 films in your career, with the exception of this film, which would you say was your favourite, and why?

I have a film coming out called “Space Munchies” about an alien encounter and a trailer dwelling hillbilly.  Hilarious story, great production, great script and it hits every angle, action, comedy, sci-fi you name it.  The production value was super high on it!

7. As an actor, you have appeared in films, TV series, commercials, performed stand up, as well as voice over work. Which do you enjoy doing the most, and is there any kind of work in the entertainment business that you have yet to try that you would be interested in? For example, could you see yourself appearing in a WWE Wrestling ring.

Film work by far.  A commercial you shoot in usually 1 or 2 days - its very rushed.  A tv show about a week, whereas in film, you shoot little chunks of dialogue, little bits of scenes, you really have an opportunity to dig deep into a character, story, scene, etc - the fact that it’s not rushed, and everyone is really shooting for perfection on every level in every aspect is wonderful!  Love it!  In a wrestling ring?  Hahaha - no, only to promote the film or do a sequel!

8. The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre is due to be released in 2020, is there anything else you would like to tell us about the film.

See it!  Its got action, zombies, pro wrestling and it is going to be HILARIOUS!!

9. And finally the question that actors get asked the most, what is next for Sean Dillingham?

Tons!  A Better call Saul episode coming out, a Netflix feature called Rattlesnake, a terrific part in a video game called Wasteland 3 and several features including Echoes of Vengeance & Double Blind.
