Synopsis

ITV announces details for new factual drama White House Farm

ITV’s six part factual drama, White House Farm, produced by New Pictures revolves around one fateful night in August 1985 when five members of the same family were murdered at an Essex farmhouse;  Sheila Caffell, her twin six-year-old sons, Daniel and Nicholas, and her parents, Nevill and June Bamber.

The series will seek to provide fresh insight into this family tragedy and the contested accounts of the events that took place at White House Farm. Based on extensive research, interviews and published accounts including, ‘The Murders at White House Farm’ by Carol Ann Lee with additional material from ‘In Search of The Rainbow’s End’ by Colin Caffell, husband of Sheila and father to Daniel and Nicholas Caffell.

Essex Police initially believed that Sheila, who had mental health problems, had murdered her own family before turning the gun on herself. But Detective Sergeant Stan Jones had doubts about the murder-suicide theory, and about Sheila’s brother Jeremy Bamber, who first called the police to the farm. Eventually it was Jeremy Bamber who was charged and convicted of the murders of his own parents, sister and nephews. Bamber is currently serving life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He is one of the few prisoners in the UK subject to a whole-life order. Bamber still maintains his innocence.

Freddie Fox takes the role of Jeremy Bamber with Mark Addy as DS Stan Jones and Stephen Graham as DCI ‘Taff’ Jones. Gemma Whelan, Mark Stanley, Alexa Davies, Cressida Bonas, Alfie Allen, Amanda Burton and Nicholas Farrell also take roles in the drama.

White House Farm will air on ITV in early 2020.

Ant & Dec are heading to the Australian Jungle and they need your help to get there!

The brand new I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! on air promo (30") will premiere this Saturday on ITV and in an interactive first for the show viewers will have the chance to vote for what happens next at the end of the promo.

In the first promo that airs this Saturday viewers will see Ant & Dec sailing in a boat to Australia when their map gets blown away at sea.  At the end of promo, viewers will be asked to head to the official IAC App where they can vote for what happens next - will Ant & Dec face 'Tropical Tides' or 'Artic Antics'? The scenario with the most public votes will then be the second promo that airs on screen in a few weeks time.

Ant & Dec have filmed 7 different promos and the viewers get to decide which ones are seen on screen by voting on the official IAC App. Viewers will get the chance to vote 3 times over the next month with different scenarios listed on the IAC App after each promo has aired on screen.

The first choice for viewers will be if they'd like Ant & Dec to face 'Tropical Tides' or 'Artic Antics' on their journey to the Australian Jungle.

BBC Four acquires Norwegian drama Wisting

BBC Four has acquired ten-part Norwegian crime drama Wisting from Banijay Rights.
The drama, which stars Sven Nordin and Carrie-Anne Moss, is based on the best-selling books The Caveman and The Hunting Dogs by writer Jørn Lier Horst. Set in the unique and stunning landscape of Norway, this series follows homicide detective William Wisting as he wrestles with the most challenging and shocking case of his career: a wanted American serial killer preying amongst them.

Hollywood actress Carrie-Anne Moss, known for her roles in the Matrix and more recently Marvel’s Jessica Jones, plays FBI Agent Maggie Griffin alongside British actor Richie Campbell (Anuvahood, The Frankenstein Chronicles) who plays Special Agent John Bantham. The pair are brought in to help Wisting and his team apprehend the infamous killer who has eluded capture for years. Leading Norwegian theatre and film actor Sven Nordin (Valkyrien) stars as Detective William Wisting.

Meanwhile, Line - Wisting’s intrepid journalist daughter - is chasing headlines, leading her straight into the path of the serial killer.

Suddenly, an old case comes back to haunt Wisting, and a dreadful accusation is hurled at him. How will Wisting save other lives when he finds himself suspended and fighting for his own reputation, career and life?

BBC Radio 2 reveals the official biggest studio albums of the 21st century for National Album Day

To mark National Album Day on Saturday 12 October, Paul Gambaccini will present a very special Pick Of The Pops, from 1pm-3pm on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, counting down the 40 biggest studio albums of the millennium so far.

The chart, compiled by the Official Charts Company, is based on the number of physical sales as well as digital downloads and streams since the 1st January 2000.

Adele’s 2011 album 21 is Number One in the chart, with her 2015 album 25 coming in at Number Three, and a total of three albums ranking within the Top 40 most popular records of the 21st century.

Ed Sheeran also has two albums, x and ÷, in the Top 10. James Blunt, Michael Bublé, Dido, David Gray, Leona Lewis, and Amy Winehouse all feature in the Top 10, which is 50% male/female.

Over 70% of artists featured in the Top 40 and all artists in the Top Five are British.

Jeff Smith, Head of Music, Radio 2 and 6 Music says: “We are delighted to reveal the nation’s 40 favourite albums of the millennium here on Radio 2 for National Album Day 2019 and it’s heartening to see so many British artists in the chart, proving that home-grown music is still as popular as ever. ”
