LITTLE JOE to be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 21 February 2020

LITTLE JOE, directed by Jessica Hausner (Amour Fou, Lourdes) and starring Emily Beecham (Daphne, Hail, Caesar!), Ben Whishaw (Paddington, Skyfall), Kit Connor (Rocketman) and Kerry Fox (Rare Beasts, The Dressmaker) will be released in the UK and Ireland on 21 February 2020 by the BFI. The film was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where Emily Beecham was awarded Best Actress.

Alice, a single mother, is a dedicated senior plant breeder at a corporation engaged in developing new species. She has engineered a very special crimson flower, remarkable not only for its beauty but also for its therapeutic value: if kept at the ideal temperature, fed properly and spoken to regularly, this plant makes its owner happy. Against company policy, Alice takes one home as a gift for her teenage son, Joe. They christen it ‘Little Joe’ but as it grows, so too does Alice’s suspicion that her new creations may not be as harmless as their nickname suggests.

Developed with BBC Films and the BFI, LITTLE JOE is a Coop99, The Bureau and Essential Films production, in collaboration with ORF (Film/Television-Agreement) Arte and Coproduction Office, supported in production by the Austrian Film Institute, FISA, Vienna Film Fund, BBC Films, BFI (with National Lottery funding), Bayerischer Rundfunk, Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and Eurimages.

LITTLE JOE opens in UK and Irish cinemas on 21 February 2020

The Chase’s Jenny joins The X Factor: Celebrity Live Shows

On Saturday night [19/10], viewers saw the judges go through the agonising deliberation round where they made the difficult decision to send Hayley Hasselhoff and Cole and Edwards home as well as telling Jenny Ryan they could, at that point, not give her a yes.

However, after considering the celebrities’ performances again, Simon, Nicole and Louis decided that one of those acts still deserved a coveted spot in the LIVE shows… The Chase Vixen, Jenny Ryan.

Jenny – who performed Queen classic Somebody To Love at Judges Homes – now joins the remaining celebrity acts as they go LIVE for the first time this Saturday [26/10] . The 13 acts – including Jenny and footballer-turned-film star Vinnie Jones - will now hope to win the votes of the public in the coming weeks as they bid to triumph and receive that prestigious record contract.

Mentor Nicole said: “Jenny was just brilliant at her audition in LA. That voice of hers is one of a kind, and she's an amazing person to get to know. So it was such a tough decision to make. After a lot of discussion we all agreed we had to put her through. The Overs are gonna smash it this year!"

Jenny said: “I’ve loved every moment of The X Factor and I’m delighted to be able to get the opportunity to perform live. The response from the public has been amazing – what an incredible experience. I’m so pleased it’s continuing!”

Sky announces co-production of forthcoming original film Twist

Sky today announced a new co-production called Twist, a new original film starring two-time Academy Award winner, Sir Michael Caine (The Dark Knight trilogy), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), actress and singer Rita Ora, David Walliams (Little Britain), Franz Drameh (Legends of Tomorrow), Sophie Simnett (Daybreak) and newcomer Raff Law in the title role. Twist will be available on Sky Cinema on the same day as its theatrical release.

Twist is a modern interpretation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist in which Oliver is reinvented as a streetwise artist living on the streets of modern-day London. A chance encounter with a gang of grifters led by the charismatic Dodge (Ora) sees Twist (Law) caught up in a high stakes heist to steal a priceless painting for master thief, Fagin (Caine), and his psychopathic business partner, Sikes (Headey). Drameh will play Batesey, Simnett will play Red and Walliams will play Losberne.

Sir Michael Caine said: “Fagin is such an infamous character, it’s going to be great fun playing him. I’m really looking forward to working with Lena, Raff and the rest of the cast in London when we start shooting.”

Lena Headey commented: “I couldn’t be more excited to take on the iconic character of Sikes from Oliver Twist. Flipping roles without apology or character softening is a brilliant way to breathe new life into established materials and bring it to new audiences.”

Raff Law added: I’m excited to play such a well-loved literary character, and I’m looking forward to working with Martin Owen to bring to life his new take on the character in modern-day London.”

“Being a presenter, Camp Counsellor and facilitator of murder is the job I was born to do! I really hope ITV2 viewers have as much fun watching this show as much as I had getting to make it.”
