Dr Christian Jessen returns to W, UKTV's premium entertainment channel, to front a brand-new UKTV Original series, Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street (10x60'). The new format follows on from the two successful series of Dr Christian Will See You Now, but this time he will be packing up his medical bag, leaving the comfort of his clinic and heading out to the streets of Britain.
The UKTV Original, made by Firecracker Films, follows the nation's favourite doctor as he travels across the UK in a fully functional mobile clinic to treat individuals in their hometowns. From major cities to remote rural areas, Dr Christian will be racing against the clock as he attempts to do as many house calls and appointments as he can within a 12-hour shift.
Each episode will see Dr Christian, accompanied by Dr Sara Kayat (GPs Behind Closed Doors, Celebrity Island), take on the 12-hour challenge, unaware of what symptoms and conditions their patients will have until they open the front door. With GP's rarely being able to offer home visits to patients, this series will put even the most experienced doctors to the test as they bring professional healthcare to the UK's doorstep.
Dr Christian said:
A home environment can give many clues to the root causes of various issues and I hope to uncover, illuminate, and diagnose wherever possible. I'm excited to be working with the talented Dr Sara Kayat and look forward to getting on the road, rolling up my sleeves, and treating new patients across the nation.
Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street is produced by Firecracker Films, commissioned for UKTV by Helen Nightingale, commissioning editor and ordered by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning and Steve North, genre general manager, comedy and entertainment.
Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street joins other ambitious programming for W in 2018, including John Bishop: In Conversation With..., Emma Willis: Delivering Babies (also produced by Firecracker), the continuing success of the 'Inside The...' strand with Inside The Vets, plus the first scripted drama for the channel starring Oscar-winning Anna Paquin, Flack.
Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street will be on W later this year.
