Love in the Countryside returns to BBC Two for a second series to help more country singletons find love

BBC Entertainment has commissioned a second series of Love in the Countryside for BBC Two, with Sara Cox returning to her spiritual home on the farm to play matchmaker once again to of a group of men and women struggling to find a partner to share their rural lives.

A reliance on the land for their livelihoods and being isolated from the urban dating pool has limited their chance of finding romance, but Love in the Countryside is on hand to help them meet their match and overcome the potential difficulties of introducing a partner to the realities of country life.

Many urban dwellers long to leave the rat race for a change of scenery and more importantly, a change of pace but will the dream match the reality? Will a green and pleasant land be more of a wilderness with no Wi-Fi?

Presenter Sara Cox will help our rurals take their first steps on the rocky road of romance. Will they meet ‘the one’ and how will the experience test their dates’ desire to swap their urban existence for a more bucolic lifestyle?

Ultimately, will they find Love in the Countryside?

Sara Cox says: "I’m so excited about dusting off my wellies and heading back out into beautiful British countryside to help find love for more rural romantics."

Carla-Maria Lawson, Commissioning Editor for BBC Entertainment says: "It’s exciting to be offering another opportunity for lonesome singles in the countryside to be matched to those charmed by the possibility of a rural way of life and love. I’m looking forward to watching Sara work her magic."

Patrick Holland, Controller BBC Two, says: “Love in the Countryside brought a fresh tone and joy to BBC Two’s evening schedule and with Sara Cox at the helm, we are excited to see how the series can grow and develop.”

Neil Smith, Managing Director of Boundless, says: “We all need love and this format helps it blossom in parts other dating shows cannot reach”.

Love in the Countryside is a 6x60’ series produced by Boundless (part of Fremantle). It was commissioned by Patrick Holland Controller of BBC Two, Kate Phillips Controller of Entertainment, and Carla-Maria Lawson, commissioning editor for BBC Entertainment. Boundless Executive Producer is Director of Programmes, Ben Mitchell.
