Black Lightning is an upcoming television series that will air on The CW. Mara Brock Akil, Salim Akil and Greg Berlanti created the series, which stars Cress Williams as titular character Black Lightning and Christine Adams as his ex-wife. The series explores the world of being a superhero mixed with family life. The pilot was ordered to series on May 10, 2017.

The pilot episode will feature Jefferson Pierce, who retired from his superhero persona Black Lightning, being forced to return when his daughter Jennifer (McCain), who is hellbent on justice and a star student, gets recruited by a local gang.
